According to some market analysts, Apple will include Retina displays across the entire MacBook Pro lineup and axe existing non-Retina laptops. The change is expected to come with a price cuts that will be more in line with Apple's traditional marketing scheme.
With the expected launch date set for the third quarter of 2013, the new line of MacBook Pros will likely feature Apple's next-generation OS X.
Apple is said to be moving the entire MacBook Pro lineup to all-Retina display hardware, meaning the current MacBook Pros without Retina panels will be deprecated. A price cut may also be in the works to make set the machines in the target range of previous Apple laptops.
With the push toward thin-and-light machines, Apple is expected to do away with optical data drives.
The design should be the same uni-body chassis layout seen in the existing 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display models, though Apple may make some tweaks before launch.
