Or...

Try disconnecting any USB/Firewire peripherals if there are any. And/or remove and PCI cards if any.

What i would do is first. Re do the whole hard drive. Totally wipe everything out. Then reinstall Mac OSX. Should work then. If not just get a new hard drive. Like a 80 gig or something.

Good lord! A guy has an error and you people jump straight to "erase and reinstall"?? :confused: <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />

DOSAL, have you tried any disk repairing utilities? How about fscking the disk in sigle-user mode?

First, disconnect any peripherals and remove any extra hardware you might have recently added.

Then, to "fsck" your disk (unix command for File System ChecK):
* Reboot holding apple-s
* You will get some text scrolling as you boot up
* when you get to the prompt, enter the command: fsck -y
* If it says "FILESYSTEM WAS MODIFIED", then fsck it again. Keep fscking it until it says the disk is okay.
* To continue booting up, enter the command: exit

If you can't even get the above to work, your system may indeed be screwed. A reinstall may be necessary, I suppose.

i already tried reinstall a couple of times (about 8) in os X the original it works just fine. i even bought a new original CD because it seemed that the CD was scratched. but that wasn't the problem, (i wasted $120 for nothing. and now i am going to try what starfleet suggested and see what happens. sorry i couldn't anwser any sooner. P.S. i already checked everything with techtool pro and tried restarting with only one stick of ram. wish me luck
