I recently installed Jag on my Sawtoth and would like to take advantage of Quartz Extreme. I have looked at a few cards and have some questions. I know I could low-end it and get a PC Asus/Nvidia Geforce2MX, with 32M and flash it over, but with how low some of the more current cards are prices, I am thinking of going to one of those.
At buy.com I did a search for Mac graphics cards and it returned NVIDIA GEFORCE4 MX420 64MB DDR DESKTOP OPTIONS and RADEON 9000 PRO 128MB AGP.
In the information of each card, they list all the Windows OSes as compatible and the NVIDIA list MacOS as well. My question is, will these cards work out of the box with Jaguar? I know with the GeForce2 you could/had to flash the ROM on the cards in OS9 so that you could use them in OSX. Since the NVIDIA lists MacOS as a compatible OS, would it require flashing? And since buy.com lists the Radeon9000 when searching for Mac cards would it be compatible?
My preference would prolly be for the RADEON given its 128MB of memory.
Also, anyone have any recommendations for online retailers that are reputable and generally cheaper than buy.com?
