Weird Firewire Issue

Hi
I have some really strange problems with my G4.
I just want to connect my DV Cam (Sony PC100) with my G4 (Powermac G4 , 450 MHz, Jaguar). sound easy , can be tough. The Camera can't build up a connection, the day before it worked.
So my first thought was the cable, so i bought a new one, but same problem. Hmm, maybe the cam. I tried out on my Powerbook G3, and connection is fine and works. So, it must be the G4, I bootet in OS9, same problem , no connection and then yesterday evening a friend of mine came to me with his Powerbook G3 (which is the same as mine (both jaguar) and I tried to connect the DV Cam to his PB and: Same Problem - No connection. So I'm afraid it's the cam, but when i tried to connect the G4 with my Powerbook by firewire, I couldn't startup by firewire. It's confusing, isn't it ?
So I don't understand whats going on. I looked for any possible application or driver, but i didn't find something. This is driving me mad. Did somebody have any advice ? Any hope ???

Ok, when you connect the camara check out the consol
app in /apllications/utlities/console. Check for error messeges conserning mounting drives and such.

If you find and error message tag it up here then will discuss it....

apparently he has the same issue and it looks like the PC100 does no longer work under Jaguar.

Thanks for that advice. I lookes but there is no log in the consol about the cam and the computer connection either. Looks for me like the G4 is not interested in any
firewire connections, but on the other hand my firewire CD-R runs fine. My understanding of logic disappears.

I don't know. The DV cam can't connect on OS 9.2.2 on the G4 either, and on the other hand connections run under Jaguar on my Powerbook G3.

So I still try out everything. But thank you for your advices!
