iPod Desk Stand? [Show support if interested]

Here's an idea:

I currently use my 1997 PowerBook G3 as a music player at work with my AppleDesign Speakers or my Sennheiser HD580 Precision headphones (I work a lot of hours as an Investment Banker so I listen to a lot of music!). When I get my iPod, it's sitting in a FedEx sort facility at the moment, I'll use it on my desk. It would be great if there was a neat desk stand (somewhat like the stand I had for my Newton awhile ago).

The stand could:
Prop up the iPod so that the display could easily be read from a sitting position at the desk Have rubber feet that prevents the unit from sliding when making adjustments Neatly route the headphone/line out cord and firewire cord in an attractive way. I guess it would work for either the computer connection or simple power. I picture that you would actually plug the iPod's FireWire port into the stand itself to secure the iPod It would match the iPod's quality of build and style, of course, and help elevate it to a serious audio component on the desk It could also utilize the "remote" connectors around the 1/8" jack in some way, though I'm not quite sure how

What do you all think? I doubt that this would be made, so anyone that has an idea about how to do something approaching this without a proprietary product should leave a comment too. Show support if you're interested and perhaps a manufacturer will see this and try to build one.

Idea,

To keep cord clutter down and make it look respectable use an overhead snap down device like the Braun Syncro shaving base uses. The plugs are on an arm the is positioned over the device and when the iPod would be put in it's base you would push the arm down on its slide rails where the plugs would snap home. Otherwise all the cords (firewire, and remote (what would the remote cord be needed for)) would be exposed.

Listen up Apple:


Make a stand (cradle) for the ipod that puts it upside-down. With a firmware update, the ipod recognizes the stand and the display flips.

Then slap an ADC connector on it and watch full screen visualizations on an Apple LCD without a computer.


And I know you need some kind of computer to actually process the visualizations... but all i can say is FOAD, at least IM thinking DIFFERENT.

More feasible alternative:

Plug in iPod, iTunes launches, iPod synches

then my idea:

hold down iPod button for 4 seconds while connected, iPod interface goes fullscreen on monitor. Leave it alone for 4 seconds, cross-fades to fullscreen visualization. This would allow say, an investment banker to control his new stereo passively, with one hand, with the iPod scroll wheel, without picking up and squinting at the device.

If Apple is serious about the digital hub strategy, they have already thought of this and are planning this feature for iTunes 3. I mean when i just want to listen to music passively at home, i dont want a window full of options, I just want a simple iPod-like interface, but would like to take advantage of my big monitor and even bigger speakers.
