I know someone who is trying to register here and they can't get their password after they sign up. Any reason on why new members wouldn't be able to sign up?

He has a Mac.com email address.

Did he enter a vaild email addy? also it can some times take a fue minus for the email to arive

It's been over an hour and he used two different valid email addresses.

In fact, the database sees that he is entered as he cannot re-register with the same email address.

Are you sure he didn't accidently delete the e-mail or not see it?

100% positive. He has not recieved the email, and he is already in the AI database.

actually I had that problem trying to register another nick....what's up with that? 2 days and still counting!! you would never get this kind of service at www.orangeinsider.com !

Someone I know is having that problem too.

Registered two weeks ago, never got the email. Tried again with three other emails/nicks, never got them.

But now, it says that the nicks are registered, so he can't reregister.

I just got an email from someone else who is having trouble registering and has waited 2 days for his password.

The person I originally posted about has also not recieved their password.

It looks like the server isn't sending email.

Another interesting fact is that I can't get an email with my username/password.

Sounds like sendmail is screwed up. I'll have gzl look at it.

Offer our apologies to the folks who are not able to register, please...

I can't get a member name/password on my Mac.com address either. In one of the suggestions topics here someone made the offhand remark that mac.com servers didn't accept mail from macnn addresses. Could that be it?

That's weird, because I registered here with a mac.com address. In fact, it's the one below.

Looks like only .com (maybe.net and .org) addresses work. I tried two .de addresses and did not receive the mail. When I used my .com one it worked.

Actually, mac.com addresses are still not working.

Actually, future problems like this should not be sent to gzl himself but sysadmin@appleinsider.com . Someone will take a look at it. As for this particular problem, hopefully we can solve it and report in this thread.

I smacked sendmail around a few times. Should be working much better now, if not perfectly (there are always a few hiccups here and there).

Let me know.

cheers,
-gzl.

Thanks gorgonzola. I'm trying to get my own login/password now at my mac.com address. If mine works, I'm sure other members will too.

I'll let you know if I don't get it.

I was unable to get my own information at my mac.com email address. Just thought I'd let you know.

Logan Cale

My friends never got their info either, and can't reregister with the names, because it says they're already registered.

Fran441
01-14-2002, 06:01 PM
They should be able to get their information by clicking on the get my password button. Unfortunately, it seems that this isn't ever sending out the mail either. :(

Still no email for me.

They just got their passwords by clicking the lost password thing. Seems to work now, for them at least.

Fran441

I just tried it and it worked for me. I'll let you know if there are any more problems.

Seems like it did the trick. Cool beans.

Let me know if there are any further issues.

It's my fault, guys. Sorry. I changed my profile and promptly lost my new password. Murphy strikes again.
