vBulletin can do this. UBB can't.

vBulletin is good.

vBulletin is coming soon. :)

vBulletin is the bulletin board software AppleInsider will be switching to in the very, very near future.

It is significantly faster than UBB (especially when doing searches) and has a some new features, like the custom time zone mentioned above.

While we *could* try to make the new AppleInsider an identical carbon copy of the old AppleInsider, we have decided to embrace this as a "major" upgrade (which it REALLY is!) and will make a few upgrades to the overall appearance of the site as well. A few new graphics here and there, maybe a different color or two.

You'll see. ;)

Of course, I'm sure some people will b*tch and complain, but that's to be expected with ANY amount of change. And this is a MAJOR change.

Don't worry too much, though. We will try to test the system as thoroughly as we can before putting it in action. We don't want to uglify the place like MacNN did when it upgraded to vB.

I hope we don't have to reregister. ;)

DON'T CHANGE THE APPEARANCE! This is the best looking forum on the net, nice and easy on the eyes.

will all of the posts be archived still?

Yes, vB will convert all of the UBB threads into vB threads. Everything that's open now should still be open after the conversion, provided the UBB-to-vB importer works as well as it claims.

No need to worry about "starting from scratch". :)

du calme, T.I.

Nothing will be changing noticeably, I don't think.

Everything should remain (relatively) the same. No color changes, just minor layout things.

Some new graphics too, just because the current ones don't correspond to the features of the new software.

I pray the Lord my soul to take,
