What is the timetable for moving to the new boards, is it likely to be before Christmas?

I think it means AI is on it's last legs and it's just a matter of time before problems of one sort or another lead to it vanishing for good.

Shall we all make acontigency plan now? Perhaps everyone should register at OI just in case? hahaha

Making an announcement would be as simple as sending an e-mail to everybody from the new board's location. Administrators can generate a full e-mail list like this in case of emergencies or major changes.

At least the front page rumor stories have started again. I hadn't noticed at all until today (11/6). And Kasper Jade is on it too. I wonder where Prince MacLean went. He sounded like he was from the DC area, just like Monish originally was too.

That won't do a whole lot of good, since MacNN sold AI. I think we're still running on a MacNN server, provisionally, but MacNN is no longer responsible for us.

You could still go there and complain, I suppose, but it wouldn't do much more than piss off the locals.

I think I haven't seen the story ... what is the story behind Appleinsider and Macnn? They were one it seems..? And for legal questions (guessing. about..???) they sold AI??? What is the story?

Here's a *very* brief history of AppleInsider, Mulattabianca.

It started as a small one-page section hosted on MacNN called "Reality".
Later, a small forum section was added for Reality.
Reality was eventually renamed AppleInsider and given its own domain name and forums, but still owned by MacNN.
The old black and purple forums and site were updated to a dark blue, green, and grey color scheme.
The "great blackout" occurred when the ISP that was hosting AI's server disappeared.
MacNN eventually restarted AI and the forums on its own servers with the current light grey color scheme.
The front page disappeared as no one was updating it. It was redirected to the forums.
SlapTech approached MacNN to buy the AppleInsider name and forums.
The front page returned, redirecting to SlapTech.
SlapTech returned AI's regular front page and started posting updates.

Currently, the forums are still hosted on MacNN's servers. We don't know when they will be transitioned onto SlapTech's servers.

AppleInsider has always been "the redheaded stepchild" that MacNN didn't like. AppleInsider on several occasions got MacNN into some legal issues with a number of big-name companies. MacNN couldn't be seen as a reputable news site by Apple because of its connections and history with AppleInsider. If I wasn't comfortable with my sexuality (I'm straight by the way) why would I hang around here...I swear when there was a questionnaire thread here one out of four people classified themselves as homosexual.

I don't have a problem talking with any of them, and never use it as an insult to them.

page 1 links? we're going to be moving stuff to the top of the thread display. it's the only one.


vbulletin does not allow showing the last thread, only the last reply. sorry. it's a limitation.
