I just got down writing a relatively long post for a common question. How about you start a FAQ forum, one thread for suggestions on what to do for a faq, one thread for the actual user submitted faqs, and each faq then has its own thread which can only be created by a moderator.
We've actually already discussed this (behind closed doors) as a possibility for the new forums when we switch to vB.
Personally, I like the idea. :)

IMO, a FAQ board should be integrated with the Genius Bar. After all they serve almost the same purpose.

You should change the title to "A FAQ forum" rather than the current, "A faq forum", which looks too much like, "A fag forum" and I don't think that's fair, to segregate orientations like that, not in this day and age... :p OK bye.
Gee, thanks for pointing that out Matsu.
Anyhow, if a FAQ forum does come to being, it may be in the form of a sub-forum of the Genius Bar, like what Escher mentioned. Such a sub-forum could have special permission settings so only certain folk (perhaps a panel of editors) would post new threads so that it doesn't become cluttered with nonessential junk.

Or smoking and non, though this is much more acceptable, generally, than discrimination based on sexual preference. However, the logistics of web fora may make smoking by-laws difficult to enforce.

Just don't make a People Who Want To Whine All Day About Apple's Pricing Even Though They're As Likely To Buy One Ever As A Homeless 72 Year Old Whino forum.
Well no, do. I know the perfect moderator.

Sorry Murbot, I'm not taking on any new projects at the moment. Consider my tenure here strictly pro bono.

I've long wished for (and advocated) a cool, one-stop AppleInsider FAQ section, where some of the running/inside jokes could be explained, where a breakdown of some terminology and lingo specific to what we talk about here could be posted and other helpful/fun things.
Those new here would quickly get up to speed on some things (and may not have to create a whole new thread on something that's been discussed 5 gazillion times already). Then for any old-timers around, it would still be fun, strictly as a reminder or whatever.
Yes...bring on the AppleInsider FAQ!
BTW, I see a FAQ link already exists, but it's mostly about posting, smileys and UBB specific things.
I'm talking about a FAQ that's very specific to the actual participants and tone of AppleInsider.
For example, if I could ever finally understand that whole "cat and watermelon" thing, I'd be eternally grateful...

No.
You used the word eternally just fine. Don't pay any attention to Defiant; after all, he's from Switzerland.
