Hi.

I'm burning out on timbuktu.

(crashes that hang the other machine have happened more than once to me)

That and i need to buy some more copies and $299 for a 10 license for Apple remote desktop seems like a good deal.

can anyone that uses ARD tell me if it would make a good replacement for timbuk2.?

i will only be connecting to other 10.2 machines.
don't care about windows access.
will need to control other machine and copy files back and forth.
and the machines i need to access have seperate WWW URL domains so i would be accessing them remotely over tcip

is ARD faster over DSL than tb2? or slower?

checked out the apple site and it seems to do everything i need but was hoping one of you used it and could tell me about it.

thanks

I only tried Timbuktu 6 for Mac OS X when it was released and it was slow compared to Timbuktu for Classic.

ARD was slow too, but ARD 1.2 is much faster and have some nice features like package installing.

The interface in ARD is crappy though, and it feels like a System 7 app - not a Mac OS X app.

Too bad Apple doesn't have a demo version that you could try.

Timbuktu lets you control macs from windows (something I need to do daily), I wish ARD would let you do that.

So does ARD allow you to connect to other computers over the internet? Can you use VPN with it?

The Apple page isn't very straightforward.
