Personally, I have never really got on with Blondes...To trippy, bimbo-ish & vain, Like brunettes, but have always loved Redheads.....( I'm talking women here )

They've always been a bit on the wild side, qwerky, and stunningly beautiful with their ginger to golden red flame hair...
No wonder so many Italian painters used to paint their models with red-orange-flame hair.

So folks, a bit of a straw poll....
do you prefer
Blondes,
Brunettes
Redheads

or

Totally Bald like Sinneae O'conner if you like that kinda thing.

Redheads or brunettes for me... I have no idea why. I like black hair too (I like asian women). Blondes, though... I just don't see the appeal. I'm not into the traditional "hottie" type... you know, big blonde hair, big fake boobs, very tall, small waist. I like short hair, and a more normal looking figure. So, someone like Alyson Hannigan (http://207.44.210.72/alyson/aalyson1a.jpg) appeals to me more than Pamela Anderson (http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/pamimage/images/pamela19.jpg).

EDIT: Okay, I think I figured out why... it's because the "blonde bombshell" type are too complex to look at. It's like everything is tossed together strangely, and it just doesn't fit right. I prefer much simpler women. In a lot of pictures, Pamela Anderson (or any number of other models) is contorted strangely and she has a sneer on her face... why can't she just sit there and look pretty?

Brunettes or Reddish-brown. [Blondes are OK as long as they don't have the matching stereotypical personality.]

Brunettes or blondes...but I think it's more important that they have brown eyes.
I've always been a sucker for deep dark bedroom eyes. Kind of like Faith Hill, or Angie Harman.

Blondes with blue or green eyes just look so distant and unfocussed.

I don't really care, though I don't really go for deep red or orange hair, especially if it's sort of frizzy. (ick)

I always thought I was into brown haired types the most, though it really depends on skin tone. There are definitely people that look better with blonde hair, and others who look better with other colors.

And about blonde hair blue/green eyes, there's currently a girl I met with blonde hair and bright green eyes who's driving me crazy, and doesn't look distant at all. But she has short hair. It's the ones with really long, straight hair that just look zoned out permanently.

blondes or brunettes. not really a fan of the pale redhead thing.

tan girls with reddish blonde hair, on the other hand, are fine.

Slut that I am, I like all kinds :D

But seriously, I have a serious thing for brunettes. Blacker the hair, the better. But sometimes red is a REALLY close second. I usually don't seem to go for blondes, but there are exceptions. I don't dig the stereotypical Playboy model/sorority chick/Hooters waitress/Joe Millionaire contestant kind of blond, but a nice, more mature (okay, soccer mom) with blonde hair might make me look twice.

And a sassy redhead like Marilu Henner is always good too.

:p

But brunettes, far and away. And I'm with the 'rat on this: a nice, soft southern accent (not the braying, ignorant-sounding "Cops" perp accent, mind you...a nice, soft sexy one where the "r" isn't pronounced fully).

:D

"Well, hi theyah, Cohlonel...could I intehest you in a glass of sweet tea? My oh my, but that showah is a nice computah you got theyah...mind if I touch y'all's digital hub?"

i don't know why, but red hair attracts me like a moth to a flame. doesn't matter who it is (okay, i am sure there is some redhead out there who would make me eat those words, but i haven't met her yet). good things my wife's a red head. :)

Interesting,
So far Brunettes, have 9 votes, while Redheads have 5 votes, Blondes have 4.
So, the idea that " gentlemen prefer blondes " seems to be way off the mark...either that or we aint gentlemen....

Still, the blondes & redheads might still make a late charge....;)

My sexual prefs:

I, too, dig brunettes. Redheads, depends on the redhead (few are hot, and I am a redhead, so the appeal is thin). Blonde... *yawn*... where was I?

Oh yeah, soccer moms. I have 2 other sexual preferences to blurt out to this room full of strangers: 1. I have a thing for middle aged women. I'm talking 35-46 here. And (un?)fortunately for me, I work in an environment where I see/talk to them all the time. They flirt with me, I flirt with them... sigh...

2: Screw waifs like Calista Flockhart. I dig busty girls, fuller hips. Not 'fat', although 'fat' is a matter of perspective I suppose. I just dig curvy women, not skin stretched tight over bones. Yuck.

I hope to soon go out w/ one of my coworkers, who is yong, cute, brunette and VERY busty. Oh God.

:D

edit: And yeah, Mass media's idea of beauty (breast implants, California blonde) really does nothing for me.

Turnoff #1: Girls who are hot and know it. I hate egotism, especially girls who think they're all that.

curiousuburb

longer hair is definitely a turnon, or conversely... short hair (less than shoulder length) doesn't do much for me. bald is not my thing. long hair can be up, fine... fun to unleash.

high maintenance hair is always bad. shouldn't require own pit crew
more than an hour to crimp, primp, braid, defrizz, curl, or otherwise fuss with is bad.
hair that requires its own luggage of care products is bad.

colour is mostly irrelevant with a few exceptions:

obviously coloured hair seems too artificial (except to hide grey)
bleach blonde carries stereotype airhead baggage. smarts matter more than hair.
dirty blonde through brunette are relatively equal ( shifting preference, perhaps to darker)
redheads... mmm, i admit a hankering. but some tanning will be req'd.

Aquafire

Actually must admit to having gone through a " I'm attracted to short hair " on women phase...I found myself chating up some really nice arty & intellectual types...with edges of latent Bisexuality about them....Then I found myself getting along really famously with tomboy dykes...I think they see me as an OK guy ..who isn't afraid of dykecity....Do they think I'm a proxy-dyke but don't know it ?

The other thing is I love one of my dear friends who is pushing late 40's but with a very slim figure and an aquiline face with grey eyes, and framed by long hair that has prematurely aged to steel grey..
It is really beautiful on her & gives her an air of poise & grace..dignity...call it what you will, but it brings out both the loving protectiveness in me as well as the devil... :D

My wife is blond, but not anything but dumb. I have always wondered where the bimbo blond stereotype arose, as there is no correlation, that I know of, between hair colour and intelligence. Maybe, however, there is a (negative) correlation between willingness to dye one's hair blond and intelligence.

In any case, I have never had any real preference for one hair colour over another. It has not been a deciding point for me. After the standard physical attributes checked out by most men, I look at a woman's hands. Delicate, well-formed hands make a real difference for me. I told this to several of my friends, and they thought that I was crazy.

Ditz and smart can go together...there's a difference between intelligence and common sense.

That being said, every almost single blond chic I know is a ditz.

Oh, I acknowledge that the stereotype is out there and that the movies and other aspects of public and private culture play to it. I just wonder how it arose.

My theory is that i) somehow, 'blond' has become associated with 'more attractive' for women in our society ii) a sizeable number of women dye their hair blond to gain this attribute iii) women who are willing to dye their hair simply to fit in with society's prejudice regarding attractiveness are, by nature, less intelligent iv) this move toward blondness among less intelligent women leads to the further result that women who are blond - or appear to be blond - will be disproportionately less intelligent.

Anyway, that's my theory...and it's a good theory...and it's my theory.

Blonde goes back to the Roman era..Roman women greatly admired the Angles naturally blonde hair colour. So they used to soak their hair in horse piss to get that desirable lighter colour.
So maybe that's where the dumb blonde idea comes from..
I mean how many guys would soak their head in horse piss ?

Secondly, red hair was a tres-cool fashion statement in Ancient Egypt re 1000 BC. They took up the use of henna as a colorant to make their hair go red. So some of these things have really deep roots..( Sic );)

Signaling Sex and Status: Our Fetish for Flaxen Hair (http://http://www.observer.com/pages/story.asp?ID=7113) a book review of On Blondes.

The deeper theme in this book is the infinite mutability of human symbols. Blondness has stood for vice and for purity in different cultural contexts. This ought to alert us to the human tendency to manipulate symbols so that they become an outer expression of inner drives. How does this process occur? How do fashions change, and why? How is it possible that the same symbol that stands for vice and experience also may stand for purity and virginity? "Blondes are the best victims," said Alfred Hitchcock. "They?re like virgin snow which shows up the bloody footprints." And yet, as Yeats wrote, "some woman?s yellow hair has maddened every mother?s son." More interesting than the hair color itself is the human tendency to mythologize certain physical objects and ascribe magic to them. Considering how common blond hair has become in an age of single-process streaks, why does it still have power?and can that power last? I think not.

You know, I was wondering why I myself starting noticing fiercely, dark brunettes more in the past few years. I guess it might be because there are too many blondes.

I don't like blonds with blue eyes. I am blond and blue-eyed (abit male) and my entire family shares the same traits. I seem to go after (allright, seriously dig) brunettes (with dark eyes, ones with hazel eyes blow me away), then redheads (blue eyes), then brunettes (blue), and rounding out the group is everone else. First of all, go outside on a monotonous winter afternoon. Look around. What catches your eye. . . yellow-blonde hair does. It' s such a contrast. whether you go for it or not, it is more noticeable than other natural colors of hair save red.

And I like the pale skin thing. If you have yellowish hued skin, blonde looks best on you. I have olive skin, and look like an idiot with blonde hair. Fortunately it has gotten darker over the years, but it still looks bizzare since now it's grayish. (and I'm frickin 21). After a week at the beach I look like I came out of a reactor core.

After a week at the beach I look like I came out of a reactor core.

if i go out in a winter afternoon, i won't look on blondes (males, i don't look for women). for the opposites, i'd look dark hair / white skin or just plain 'darker complex' (could mean mixed but not pure black).

i have pale skin .. but blueish, not yellowish. i'd look really bad with yellowish blonde hair. reddish, brownish and black do ... and i seem to be one of those unlucky grayish at 20-something.. :embarrass :( so now brownish ... but i have no idea what i will be thursday or after. i hope they will not make me blond, or i'll shave. seriously. or maybe i'll shave to 1/4" and dye me jaguar.. :\

I like the blonds. There's just something about them. But then again you can never go wrong witha brown-eyed girl with some of that nice brown hair.

Still doesn't explain why so many women go blonde...is it the baby looks or the dumb / innocent angel look ?
besides which most "blondes" come from a bottle & not from their genes..so how to tell ?:\

Ummm. . .

1) Bright Blonde hair is eye catching, period. It's bright. Bright things are eye catching.

2) There are lots of women out there who like to be cought in one's eye. I think this is damn evident given the cosmetics industry.

Thus, so many women go blonde because they want to be noticed.

I thought this was painfully self evident even at the start of the thread.

Splinemodel you wankeller you......

I started this thread as a straw poll of hair preference ..colour wise...Okee Dokee..& as still you haven't actually answered my question as to how to tell the difference between real blondes & bottled ones.
So, you leave me no choice, but to get myself a blindmans cane, dark sunglasses, & sit in a ladies sports gym locker.
And it will be all your fault if I get smothered with towels, gym shorts, cologne, & lip-stick..the thingsI have to do for science...:D
