At work today I was having lunch at same table as Noah Wyle. He was talking about playing Steve Jobs and how Jobs did this gag with him at Macworld New York. (For those of you who don't remember this. Noah started the keynote dressed as Jobs and the after a bit the real Steve Jobs came on stage and kicked the imposter off ) Anyway he said it was great fun. I was just wondering if anyone knew where I might be able to view a copy of that keynote

you had lunch with Noah Wylie?!

I have it. Not sure how I could get it to you though.

I actually have most keynotes back to MWNY 1998 witht the original imac.

Maybe we could do one a week via bit torrent or something

Yeah, I would really like to see the keynote from when Jobs released the FP iMac.

That is so cool, you ate lunch with Noah Wyle and applenut gets called by Apple Legal. How was it?

It would be great if someone could post all the old keynotes on a Carracho server. Especially the Boston 97 clip with Bill gates on sattelite.

Anyways, Here is the MWNY 99 keynote (http://mod.rdlab.carnet.hr/hr/carnet/rdlab/conf/apple/)

Come on Applenut, I know you have them all because I asked you before.

Why don't you post one a week like you wrote. Very good idea. I am desperate to get these Keynotes.

My favorites would be the introduction of the first iMac and the Cube. If someone could also get the introduction of the Lisa if it has been filmed and the first Macintosh ?

I would really like the one with bill gates from Boston 1997, it was a short keynote like 45 minuets, and it's not so much about gates as it is about Jobs, he really talked about what is wrong with Apple, as in cloners, and lack of focus within the company

LOL I think a more accurate description is I ate lunch at a large table in which Noah was at. Not like him and I met to chat over dim sum at some trendy restaurant. No, this was more along the lines of a cafeteria lunchroom. I work as a crewmember in the motion picture industry, so it is not uncommon to find yourself a lunch with an actor or three but, it is just pleasant lunchtime chitchat then back to our seperate worlds (them=officers us=footsoldiers)
The subject of Apple came up (beleive or not I didn't mention it :wow: ) And he ralated that story about the keynote. I thought it might be fun to see it. Not the whole thing just the skit.

Well, the Hungarian page linked above just happens to feature the MWNY 1999 keynote, including Noah Wiley. I just watched the beginning of it and it was indeed quite funny. At the end of his appearance, Wiley asks Jobs "Are you a virgin?" ;)

Watching MWNY 99 with the iBook and the Airport intro, I noticed that he talked about putting the Airport antennae in the optimal place on the iBook. Jobs said that they designed the iBook to work with wireless internet by putting the antennae in the display, "The perfect place to recieve high speed wireless data." Why didn't they do this on the Titanium Powerbook to begin with if they already had designed the iBook with it two years prior???

How do I set up a Bit Torrent seed?

InactionMan

Alright, I tried to figure out hot to generate a torrent but I'm not sure if I got it.

Open BitTorrent and select>generate torrent file

1) In the tracker URL field put-http://prologic.no-ip.com:6969/

(This a public torrent tracker that allows you to upload anything.)

2) Select the file you want to generate a torrent for and hit generate, the progress bar will fill but will not clear. The torrent should be there now when you close the window.

3) Go to http://prologic.no-ip.com:6969 and click on Upload a File. Once you have selected the file and uploaded it should show up the tracker in a minute or so.

Download the torrent you selected and start it in BitTorrent to start seeding it.

4) Give us a link to the torrent file so we can all enjoy Keynote's of years gone by!

Sorry if my instructions suck, I really have no idea what I'm doing.
:)

Edit- go to the website to test my torrent to see if I did it right. Scroll down and it should be one of the first ones. It's called ThrowawayStyle.mp3.torrent.

Alrighty. Here we go.

MacWorld New York 1998: Keynote Address

I will seed this till Thursday at around 8pm. After that it will be up to the people who completed the download to keep their windows open and keep it going since I don't want Optimum Online to cut it off.

I also may close it every couple of hours for an hour or so to keep Optimum Online happy.

But I have 1mb/sec upstream so it should be fairly good.

Next week I will do the next biggest request.

Here's the torrent file
http://prologic.no-ip.com:6969/torrent.html?info_hash=02a452721e63d51dfa80f7442d6 06b364858df37

If that doesn't work go here http://prologic.no-ip.com:6969/index.html?filter=Miscellaneous
and select "MWNY 1998 Ref.mov"

now let's get those downloads going

applenut
08-12-2003, 02:34 PM
i don't think its working.

I uploaded the generated file. I downloaded it. When I open though it asks me where I would like to save the file instead of realizing it has the file and just needs to upload

InactionMan
08-12-2003, 04:11 PM
When it asks you to save it, save it in the same directory as the original file. It'll then ask you if you want to replace it. Say yes. It'll scan the file and then say the downlaod was complete, leave it open and you are now seeding.

or higher res versions of 99" and beyond keynotes that are higher res then the ones people downloaded from Apple?

Hey guys, thought I would update you all.

A couple of you successfully downloaded the entire keynote. I was hoping that after thursday those people would keep it seeded to share the bandwidth load but apparently they took it down.

Thursday obviously the power went out so it got killed on my end of the deal a bit early. I also flew out to Berkeley Thursday night so I'm here in college now and it has taken me a few days to get settled in.

If you guys still want the 1998 file and/or other just give me a couple more days to get things settled in and for my brother to get back to NYC (he's here with me) and then I'll get the thing set up again via Apple Remote Desktop.

So, I'll keep you posted but until then there wont be anything up unless someone else decides to be nice and seed that 1998 file.

Since I grabbed 60-some percent of the whole 900s MB, I can watch partial of the keynote.. (1hr 46mins). On my G4 1.25 DP, the video paused and many "beep" sounds. Anyone got the same "beeping" issue as I do?

Since I'm out of the broadband land, I may pay $10 for someone burn me that video on a DVD-R... of course, better video in quality meaning no pause or beeping.
