RAM: Automatically recognize 2-2-2 ?

Does Apple's computers automatically recognize 2-2-2 RAM? [as long as all of the RAMs are the same)... ?

I'm in the market to buy more RAM for my powerbook & powermac, and would like to buy 2-2-2 RAM if the hardware will recognize them ......

unless you're running a server, the extra money for 2-2-2 ram is a waste.
