View Full Version : Some old (mid '80s) Apple audio clips
I thought some of you might get a chuckle out of these. :)
My father recently found some old cassette tapes from the mid-1980s with some Apple bits on them. The first was recorded at a dealer conference in San Francisco with about 500 Apple dealers. It's a bit warbly in parts because the tape was pretty badly degraded. The second clip is actually a radio commercial for the retail store that my father owned at the time.

Ah, back when an Apple was a viable business computer... :p

eeks...
"We Are Apple" conjured up visions of Steve Jobs in legs warmers doing his flash dance....
An image I'll have to live with the rest of my life.

It should be the 1 song that comes preloaded on new iPods.

www.appleads.com is launching May 1. You should upload it to the site when it launches. The site is looking for this type of stuff.

It doesn't suck at all. Just typical 80's song.

Is that Cara herself singing it? Or did they just have the agency brew up the jingle from her song? 'Would be really cool if it really is her...

yea there's a lot of good 80's songs, even cheesy ones that are good, but this is bad cheesy, just listen to the lyrics arrgg :) imo typical should have nothing to do with an apple ad. ;)

83 was also the year a "then unknown actor" named Kevin Costner advertised the Apple Lisa (http://www.differentdistrict.com/movies/play.php?id=431_0_12_0_M)
Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan (http://www.fortunecity.com/marina/reach/435/trivia.htm) has apparently been in an Apple Ad (in 1985) too

(Sorry for the editorial comments! :) )
I couldn't make out "Show your colors now" for hours.
Apple logo. Rainbow. Show your...nevermind. :D
-------
We Are Apple:
First, there was nothing,
but the hope of a dream,
that burned in your soul,
'til it craved to be free!
But now look around...
for the dream touched the world.
In a flash how it changed,
all our lives!
We are Apple!
Leading the way!
We are Apple!
And we're making a better today!
What a feelin'!
And we've only begun,
in believin'
that tomorrow's much brighter,
'cause Apple is leading the way!
[agonizing keyboard bridge]
[modulate excruciatingly beyond human hearing range]
And now look ahead,
to the dreams yet to come,
lifting our goals to the sky!
We are Apple!
Leading the way!
We are Apple!
And we're making a better today!
What a feelin'!
And we've only begun,
in believin',
that tomorrow's much brighter,
'cause Apple is leading the way!
Leading the way!
[Yet more keyboards; handclaps]
Apple! (Show your colors now!)
Leading the way!
Apple! (We can have it all!)
And we're making life better today!
What a feeling!
And we've only begun,
in believin',
that tomorrow's much brighter,
'cause Apple is leading the way!
Apple! (Keep believin'!)
Ooh-ooh-Apple! (Show your colors now!)
ah-ah-ah-Apple! (Keep on dreaming!)
ah-ah-ah-ah-Apple! (We can have it all!)
[lame guitar slide]
Leading the way!
[modulate up - hey, why not?]
Leading the way!
We're Apple! (All together now!)
[modulate down - "because we can"]
Apple!

I found a few others, here's the link:
http://insight.zdnet.co.uk/hardware/chips/0,39020436,2127406,00.htm
Audio links on the first page don't seem to work, but if you follow "Next Page" links near the bottom, you can get all that Apple goodness!
"Power! Passion! Apple!" (um, about that cult thing they are always trying to label us with......8) )
*Oh, and read the lyrics for "Breaking Through" carefully (first page) - looks like someone was trying to slip in a little anti-Apple!

Oh goodness that's crazy. If your company did something like this would you get up and jam, or would you roll your eyes at "corporate indoctrination?"

Only Apple can pull it off ;)
I like Apple leading the way. I don't want to do anything illegal, but I'd kill a man for a clean copy.
It's sweet how influential they make themselves sound. How many companies make songs about themselves? haha
