while i'm siting here in cosy central europe, awaiting my overseas ballot, i have been following the discussions here on AIAOPO a bit and find it quite surprising that all the arguments basically center on how bad the other guy is.

doesn't anyone have anything positive to say about their candidate of choice?
why should i give my vote to either of the 2 main candidates, since they seem to be nothing more than lying, deceiving, two-faced power-hungry monsters that will be the downfall of the human race?

so, please help me out folks and post your arguments pro bush in this thread (there is another one for the pro kerry arguments).

oh, and please: no bickering, no counter-arguments! there is plenty of that in the other threads ... just plain positive talk about each candidate!

Good idea. I agree with Bush on most issues. I think he's a likeable and honest person. I think he's a strong leader who is not afraid to take a stand on something. His tax cuts benefited my family to the tune of thousands a year in marginal rate cuts and depreciation law changes. Education spending has increased 50% under Bush.

Bush has seen to the liberation of 50 million people. He dealt with 9/11 calmly and firmly. Most importantly, his philosophy is to use the US military to fight terrorists rather than have civilians fight them. I fully support preemptive action. The policy, despite what we're told by the media, is working. Libya didn't give up it's WMD because we asked them nicely. We proved that we mean what we say by invading Iraq. Libya and others took notice.

I don't agree with Bush on everything. I think we need major domestic spending reductions and I'm not really a fan of a gay marriage amendment. But, I believe my family is safer with him in office. I have no doubt that he'll err on the side being aggressive in protecting the nation.

I won't get into Kerry as you suggested.

I voted for George last time but will not this next time, he is a spinner meaning lots of spin and lies. its happened in Iraq, Education, Enviroment, Healthcare etc. Bush is for Big Corporations and seems that Bush can not ever admit he did wrong or made a mistake. I dont like people who can not admit when they are wrong. Many instances of this current administration trampling our rights under the false guise of security(anyone say Mexico?)Patriot act, the list just doesnt stop. I can not find any reason for voting for George but can find many reasons to get a Democrat in the whitehouse as a check on the republican congress. Iam a indedependent who almost allways voted republican but they are going to far right for the good of our country. we need a another party that represents the working American. Kerry was a Hero, George was not.

90% of your post revolves around Bush's response to terror attacks SDW. Would Gore have done otherwise? Yes. Gore would've handled 9/11 effectively the same as Bush; however, Gore would not have invaded Iraq. Gore would have focused on AQ not have been sidetracked by a 2 bit dictator.

Bush has handled AQ horribly. High ranking officials and military men have said the same. Bush's handling of the situation AFTER 9/11 has put us on a wrong path.

Likable--<sarcasm>a quality I look for in a good leader</sarcasm>.
Honest--if you believe lie after lie to be honest then so be it.

He dealt with 9/11 calmly and firmly. Since we all seem to have developed collective amnesia about this, can you remember what, exactly, Bush did on Sept. 11, 2001?

Do you remember the sense of abandonment we all felt that our President was nowhere to be found? How we felt to hear our President was fleeing from one bunker to another? Do you remember how scared we felt to see our President pop out of one bunker for only a minute-long statement before flying to another bunker? Do you know how residents of DC felt to have their President not reappear in the city for two days? How scared and abandoned they felt? Do you remember the lame excuses offered to cover the President's fleeing from danger and supreme inaction? How all those excuses were later revealed to have been simply made-up on the spot? I was there; I remember all of this. If you try, you can remember, too.

Have you watched the tape of the President sitting dumbstruck for seven minutes after learning of the second attack? Have you thought about what (god-forbid) would have happened if there were enemy missles headed towards the US during those seven minutes of frozen inaction?

Once you've refreshed your memory, do you still think the President exhibited a strong and courageous response to the attacks on Sept. 11?
