This had me laughing out loud.

Pretty lights must go (http://www.kfmb.com/topstory29746.html)

Democratic candidate John Kerry's campaign demanded Thursday that the lights signaling when a speaker's time has expired during debates with President Bush be removed from the lecterns because they are distracting, but the commission hosting the debates refused.

Do we really want a president who can be distracted by pretty lights?

 :p

President Bush demanded that his lectern be separated by a minimum of ten feet and the two shall not share the same frame (two shot).

Do we really want a president who has a Napoleon complex?

Thankfully, the networks are refusing to follow the broadcast guidelines set forth for the debate.

I don't teach junior high.

Second, I'll gladly say I'm doing it on your dime if it will raise your blood pressure.

With regards... on your dime...

I think Bush is afraid of him because he looks like Herman Munster.:D

I did read about the height thing. I can understand not wanting to look undersized. I'm only 5'10" myself.

Height is certainly a consideration when requesting no shots of both candidates in the same frame. I would guess that it has another function, though.

One of the other rules is that they cannot show the other candidate when one is speaking.

This is a 'good thing', in that it allows the speaker to express his platform without the tv audience being distracted with candid shots of the other candidate.

This is a 'bad thing', in that it doesn't allow the tv audience to see any uncomfortable shifting, rolling of eyes, and looks of frustration/anger/desparation/confusion from the other candidate.

With the networks refusal to follow the guidelines, we'll probably get to see both candidates shifting, rolling, and looking uncomfortable. Good.

I wonder if the candidate reaction shots clause was put in by the Kerry team? Wasn't it Gore who kept getting needled about signing continually in the last presidential debates?

We all remember Bush I and the watch episode. Maybe it was intended to focus the debates on the candidates speaking.

I wonder what the space guidelines would have been if Dean had been the nominee?8)

Oh I'm sorry. What is it that you teach again? Elementary?

It doesn't raise my blood pressure at all. But you know what? Maybe your school would be thrilled to know how you use their bandwidth all day? ;)

That's ridiculous. I think someone does have a Napoleon complex. How tall is Bush? 5-10 or so? Maybe he shouldn't worry too much. I mean Cheney's gonna be there right? Although it sucks that he won't be able to sit on Cheney's lap. Wonder why the Dems. wouldn't to go along with that one?
