cnn article (http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/02/09/low.pants.ap/index.html)

every time i think that law makers can't get any stupider, they go prove me wrong. the gist of the above article is that it might soon be illegal in virginia to wear your pants in a way that "excessively" exposes your undies. now i'm not a big fan of seeing guys pants halfway down their thighs, but is this really a problem? tacky to be sure, but a problem, no. besides i do like it if a hot chick is wearing low ride jeans and her thong is exposed somewhat. that can be a very good thing. but the nazis in virginia seem to think differently.

I think the law only applies to people who ought not be wearing low-rise jeans and a thong. ;)

That attempt at a law is beyond stupid. It's even more stupid and dorky than the fashion statement they tried to outlaw...if that is possible.

On that theme...why is that mode of dress (pants waistband around the upper thighs) so favored by gangbangers, when it would make a quick getaway on foot from a crime scene virtually impossible ??

 :err:

I've always figured it was one of two things:

1) Prison jumpsuits are loose

2) loose clothing like that allows you to hide a gun more easily than, say, the pants the Sharks and the Jets wore.
