James Guckert obtained coveted White House press corps credentials under the name "Jeff Gannon", working for Talon News Service - apparently an extension of GOPUSA.
An example of Mr. "Gannon's" hard-hitting questions to Bush: how he could deal with Democratic congressional leaders "who seem to have divorced themselves from reality."
Amazing

You missed the best part! That this arch-conservative bastion of moral values actually made a business (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A14148-2005Feb10.html) out of running gay porn websites like militaryescortsm4m.com!

Will the irony ever stop being so wonderful? Between the gambling (Bennett), the prostitution (Swaggart), the sexual perversion (O'Reilly), the cheating on spouses (Hyde), the illegal drugs (Rush) and now the gay porn, I think the right-wing "who's who" has covered every single base of moral indecency.

And note that the gay pr0n thing isn't even the source of the scandal - but as the credentials thing came to light, some bloggers were checking the guy's background (probably for financial and social connections) and found this completely by accident. Does every single prominent conservative have a skeleton like this in their closet? Running background on these guys is like fishing with grenades - you can't miss!

No kidding. It would be funny if it wasn't so scary since these people are running the world.

In a pathetic sort of way. So this tool was McClellan's "lifeline" eh? Will the irony ever stop being so wonderful? That might just be the tip of the iceberg. Don't forget all the prominent Republican Reps -I've read there's at least 4 or 5- who talk tough against gay rights while....being closet gays. How pathetic is that?

:wow:

The link to the Washington Times article requires a registration, but here's the article by Wayne Madsen...fascinating stuff. The material in this article on both this developing scandal and the Nebraska gay porn and pedophilia outrage in 1989 is telling, in that these are in theory the classic storylines that newspapers and network tv stations salivate over. But just look who is involved: in 1989, the scandal went right up to the George H.W. Bush presidency and senior officials in his administration, but the media declined to follow up.

In this developing Gannongate fiasco, it looks like a repeat, where senior GOP figures could be implicated in, if not crimes perhaps, but surely a sex scandal of a pretty sordid nature. I would bet a fair amount of money that the media will ignore this one also, as they predictably close ranks to protect their buddies.

Just imagine if a "Gannongate-like" scenario was centered around the Clinton White House. Oh my...if they blew fuses over a simple blowjob, what kind of meltdown would happen over gay porn rings, gay escort sites and pedophilia? Coming to think about it, perhaps nothing....its gay marriage that sends these clowns over the edge.

I don't really watch the news anymore, its just too meaningless, but I can't believe this doesn't seem to be a bigger story. I mean take away the gay thing, someone got press credentials to the White House using an alias? Please, this guy was so obviously a plant, people should be up in arms. I have to say one thing though, if this happened to a Democrat the Republiscums would be all over it. You'd hear every talk radio host talk about it, every stupid hack columnist writing about it and every pathetic talking head ranting about the liberal media, but the dumbass Democrats think they're too good for that so this story will go nowhere.
