"The December 1998 memo from Michael Wilson, then a vice president of Cotecna Inspections S.A., mentions brief discussions with Annan "and his entourage" at a summit in Paris in 1998 about Cotecna's bid for a $10 million-a-year contract under oil-for-food.

If accurate, the memo could contradict a major finding of the Independent Inquiry Committee - that there wasn't enough evidence to show that Annan knew about efforts by Cotecna, which employed his son, Kojo, to win the contract. Cotecna learned it won the contract on Dec. 11, 1998, days after the meeting."

I hate to be the to say "I told ya so.", but I told ya. The corruption goes far and deep. This kind of stuff will come out for the next 5 years, if not more.

It appears he is not the poor innocent black kid from Ghana, that he wants us to believe.

We are such suckers.

It appears he is not the poor innocent black kid from Ghana,

What?

Yeah. He's not fooling me with that makeup and that nosejob.

I remember that classic footage of Kofi Annan doing 'Rockin' Robin' on Top of the Pops.

Kofi Annan is a kiddiefiddler, and this verdict is a travesty.

Kofi is probably as corrupt as Hans Blix.

I'm really curious as to what this "poor innocent black kid from Ghana" stuff is all about.

It's a treasure trove for psychoanalysis.

It's a treasure trove for psychoanalysis. Make of it whatever you desire. Have at it. It should prove entertaining.

"One e-mail refers to the U.N. program and says: "We had brief discussions with the SG [the acronym for secretary-general] and his entourage. Their collective advise [sic] was that we should respond as best as we could to the Q-and-A session of the 1-12-98 and that we could count on their support." The contents of that e-mail were first reported by The New York Times.

The numbers "1-12-98 " refer to a Dec. 1, 1998, meeting between Cotecna executives and U.N. officials in New York at which the contract was discussed."

"The second e-mail from the same Cotecna executive, sent minutes after the first, discussed a meeting that took place three days earlier with U.N. procurement officials to talk about the contract bid and expressed his confidence that the company would get the bid because of "effective but quiet lobbying" in New York diplomatic circles."

Of course this contradicts the statement:

"I have no involvement with granting of contracts either on this Cotecna one or others," Kofi Annan

I think people pick on Kofi Annan simply because it's fun saying his name and any excuse will do.

Kofi Annan. KOH fee ah NAHN. Yes, it's strangely satisfying. Not quite so satisfying as Boutros Boutrous-Ghali (ah, those were the days!), but for now it will have to do.

It is a very unique and satisfying name to say.

Kofi ...Kofi ...Kofi ...

Everyone.

NaplesX picks on him because that is what he wants to do.

I don't think anyone bar perhaps SDW has brought Kofi Annan up in this forum.

So NaplesX, how were you personally offended by Mr. Annan?

So NaplesX, how were you personally offended by Mr. Annan? I'm offended by his total corruption of the UN. His lying to the world and acting as if nothing is wrong.

I have nothing personal against him, I don't know him.
