...could you please help my friend whose mac mini which shows a grey screen with a black rectangle with a white power sign in the middle.

there is a heap text explaining how to restart the machine again which doesn't work...

any ideas???...:???: :???:

i could show you what the screen looks like but i dont know how to upload Jpegs to this post.

Can you start up with the supplied system CD or DVD inserted while pressing the 'c' key?

That is a kernel panic. Almost always caused by bad/incompatible/poorly seated RAM or incompatible hardware.

1. If you put new RAM recently, remove it and replace with the old.
2. If he has any USB or FireWire or other devices attached, remove them.
3. If the keyboard is not an Apple keyboard, try a different one.
