View Full Version : A Baby on the way?
Fellowship

I have to share the news,,
My wife is pregnant!
We both are very excited :)
If you have any name ideas dish them up now for both boy and girl names.
We suspected she might be pregnant when her cycle was off so friday evening we bought a test and saturday we found out the affirmative. Today she makes appointments for the doctor.
Looks like it's time to arrange one of the bedrooms into a new baby room!
Yet again another chapter in my life and it is truly exciting!

Congrats!
If this is your first (i'm assuming it is) it'll change everything. For the better. My daughter is 14 months old and I can't imagine life without her now.

congrats fellows. be sure to stock up on plenty of sleep while you can, because when the baby comes you will discover new levels of exhaustion that you never knew were possible. it's all worth it though.
Congratulations -- they're the only thing you'll leave behind.
(and get a midwife, doctors typically treat women like cattle)
(and your ability to keep the fear factor down in the third trimester Will make Everything run as close to smooth sailing as possible)
Congratulations, Fellowship.
I'm a new dad. I can tell you it's really fun -- and it's more fun if you're involved. I've enjoyed listening to my instincts and nuturing.
You're in for a treat.

Congratulation, Fellows! :)
But I have to ask you... you did post in this forum... what are the political implications of this? ;)

Why would you sentance your child to being announced in Polictical Outsider?
I am partial to the names Bubba and of course, Moe for a boy. Bubbette and Moette are two favorites for a girl. Caution that some may think Moette is French.

*cough* I do believe I predicted this only a few weeks back. I guess you managed to follow the instructions...... :)
I'm thrilled for you Fellows and I'm sure you're going to make a wonderful daddy. Best wishes and congrats to Heather too.
I'm all overcome by smiliness.
:D :D :D :D :D
PS And ditto what dmz said about the midwife.

we all knew the meaning of the chicken and egg thread!. Congratulations Dale, I think you'll make a good father.
Names? Inanna for a girl, Zeus for a boy ;)

Congratulations! I really adore children (no I'm not creepy!). I've always been rather fond of the name Michelle for a girl and for a boy I really like the sound of Jaques, but that might be too french, so what about Andrew? That's a good name.

Not sure exactly...but that seems to have gone well beyond naming suggestions.

George if it's a boy

Fellowship I truly wish you all the best!
I've never had kids of my own. I haven't been avoiding it just turned out that way.
However after having my friend's 2 teenage daughters stay with me for awhile I've got to say you're in for some interesting times.
Just that experience showed me it's got to be the most rewarding experience you'll ever have. Also at times the most frustrating.

And just think, we saw your whole courtship and marriage play out here!
You might consider going here (http://www.babyzone.com/features/content/display.asp?TopicID=30&ContentID=309) to find some good names. I'm fond of the following:
Indiana August
Lyric Chanel
Enzo
Sosie Ruth
Moses
Amadeus
Fifi-Trixibelle
Phoenix Chi
Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily
Victoria Kafka
Dylan Jagger
And, of course, Shiloh.
If you don't like those, there's always something good in the Mormon name generator (http://rumandmonkey.com/widgets/toys/mormon/)! Put in your regular name like "Brad Pitt" and POOF! you get "Bradstreet Britton"!
Congrats!

Do you know why this is in Political Insider? It's because Fellows has got another potential politico inside 'er.

Uh oh, January you say? That may conflict with macworld. Jobs won't reschedule so that leaves... :p

Haha, I loved that show! I never saw how it ended though, or how it began. In fact I didn't really see much of it.

oh, people have been having babies LOOONG before there were "doctors" as we know them. It'll be just fine, no need to worry, though a lot of anxiety is pretty normal :)
My suggestion is that you NOT stop at one ... or even two ... "the more, the merrier" is ever so true with regards to children.
Oh... as for names... Hannah, Delaney, Ruth and Rex are already taken!
I almost forgot -- be sure to check out Robin Williams' routine on A Night at the Met and Bill Cosby's on Himself, they both cover childbirth, natural and otherwise.

I think Prynne is a nice name for a girl. It has a little bit of modesty to it.

Well, if you're bringing up "fallen woman" names, you might try "Hetty" or "Lizzie."
Lizzie was a pretty common name for prostitutes in the c19. ;)
Names -- like many things -- come and go in fashion. When we were naming our January baby we wanted like many people to find an old fashioned name: partially to resurrect something, but also so that our kid wouldn't be one of six Emmas in her kindergarden class.
You can see graphic representations of the popularity of various names in the US here (I think the data is from the US Census):

Great for checking out if that unique name you thought of is something everyone else is thinking of too!

You are going to tell us the name you've picked when you know, right? The last time someone I knew had a child, their friends and family started collecting bets on what the length and weight of the child would be. Does anyone else think that this would be entertaining, or am I just crazy?

by my reckoning, I bet $50 on a unique genetic modification never seen before in the human species. Fellows child will have evolved.

As for names, make SURE not to name a boy Eric, Kenny, Kyle or Stan. Very important.

I agree. Just put the thought out of your mind. There are no valid arguments FOR it, not really. As our OB/GYN told us after we let her know our decision: "it's mutilation, really."
No cutting, thank you.
