Some board members have made it their calling to post almost nothing but conspiracy theories on these forums. These unsubstantiated theories in most cases amount to little more than slander. Why is this allowed?

It's a political subforum.

Calling into question the motives, honesty and legitimacy of governments and their proxies is politics, hardly "slander".

If they\'re based on fact.

Just create some new vB tags - [FACT] and [NOT-FACT].

Then force all posters to use them.

Why, the boards will positively moderate themselves!

I think there\'s a pattern here of deliberate slander, and I want to make sure that it is addressed.

Do you even know the definition of slander or are you attempting to use a scary legal term to make up for a deficiency of mind?

(1) I think the word you are looking for is libel.
(2) There is no evidence of libel here because it requires proof that someone's reputation has been damaged...

Chorus...

"Oh come, all ye whippers
boy-full from your bum fun
O come ye, O come ye to thee goat pen.
Address this you crack whore
Suck me off you cheap bore
Oh come, let us go whip her
Oh come, let us go whip her
Oh come, in their faces
mass-debate the world."

Right. And since it\'s Israel or the US were dealing here with, there\'s no harm done.

Now you have it completely wrong.

You can't slander or libel a government...

Because by definition the terms refer to injuring a person.

And regardless, how does one prove that you have injured a government when that injury doesn't constitute treason?

In other words, shut up.

Exactly why I spend so little time here now. I just got bored with it. “ The fundies did this. The fundies did that. Bushcorp did this. Bushcorp did that.” Whatever. Boring. Not worthy of even Moe's time.

I thought we had sorted this out.

You have to wait in line until Occam Whisker gets tired of posting.

That way we don't exceed our quota.

I'm positive occam wouldn't have objected to unsubstantiated theories that were little more than slander in 1998. Hmmmm. Whitewater? Troopergate? Haircutgate? Filegate?

Was that civilized political discourse back then?

Naw! He wasn't getting what he wanted out of this forum so he probably left in indignation. That's assuming he was serious of course. ;)

The very fact that there are so many theories out there concerning Bush ( far more than there have been for any other president ) I wonder if he can " feel the love " from the american people.;)

None of these are slanderous even are they? I suppose they would have to be untrue for that - can the truth be slander before we find out it is true?

Maybe the nearest to slander - if it is false and there seems a lot of evidence to support it - would be the Bush clan shenanigans at Bohemian Grove which are alleged to involve activities of a dubious nature with minors.

Then there is the bisexual love triangle - the recent allegation by a woman claiming involvement not the accusation of rape from a few years back when the woman who filed a suit died in mysterious circumstances shortly after.

I suppose these are slanderous if untrue but we would need some sort of in-depth investigation and for some reason this is not on the agenda....

I wouldn't call it slander, just repetitious drivel.

It's a messageboard, it's where ideas go to die. WHy the fuck bother regulating it. The conservatives will never win because they're incredibly outnumbered. The liberals will never win because the conservatives' opinions are blockheadedly indelible. Just give up, we'll never get anywhere.
