According to Peace Now!, an israeli peace-organisation, a leaked 2004-survey by the israeli civil administration reveals that about 40% of the israeli settlements in the Westbank have been constructed on private palestinian land!
86.4% of Maale Adumim, the biggest israeli settlement in the Westbank, is built on privately-owned palestinian land...
That means it's official that Israel has stolen land from private palestinians in the Westbank, and also kept secret the report for years, for fear of image-damage.
The international community views correctly all israeli settlements in the occupied territories as illegal, but until now Israel has argued that they haven't dispossessed private palestinians for these settlements but instead used socalled "state-land". This report makes now clear that about 40% of the land these israeli settlements sit on, have been stolen from private palestinians, and therefore illegaly, even according to israeli law, used for israeli settlements.
