Alexander Litvinenko (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/11/24/AR2006112400410.html?nav=rss_world), the former KGB agent who railed against the Putin administration died yesterday in London of radiation sickness caused by acute polonium 210 poisoning. The story reads like a cold war spy thriller, almost like something of a James Bond novel, packed with intrigue and mystery.
Quite obviously someone wanted this man dead. He was in London investigating the assasination death of another anti-Putin activist, journalist Anna Politkovskaya, and ingested the poison while eating sushi in Piccadilly. Traces of radioactive polonium (which is extremely hard to detect in a human) were found at the sushi bar and also in a hotel where he was staying, and have set off a public health scare in London.
Putin himself, although offering 'condolences' to the man's family, also commented that "it wasn't a violent death"... a bizarre reaction, almost implying some kind of 'justification'.
What happened here? Several possibilities... one is that he was on a mission himself (he used to be in the KGB), and accidentally ingested the poison. Another is that he was poisoned by another anti-Putin rival. The most likely scenario (imho), as claimed by Litvinenko on his death bed, that he was killed by elements within the Russian government, in order to silence one of their most vociferous critics. Litvinenko claimed that the Russian apartment terrorist attacks of 1999 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_apartment_bombings), were carried out by agents within the Putin administration, in order to blame "Chechen terrorists", enrage the Russian public, and stoke up public support and justification for a war against those seeking Chechnyan independence; in other words, a textbook government false flag operation.
The publicity surrounding this case is of value because it gives mainstream coverage to a type of operation that many people find hard to acknowledge, and as a result often get relegated to the fringes of awareness, 'wild conspiracy' and such like. However, "false flags" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_flag) (and their variants) are standard modus operandi amongst governments (especially ones stacked with rogue and psychopaths), and have been carried out throughout human history. Here are some recent examples (http://deeperpolitics.gnn.tv/blogs/7329/Examples_of_documented_False_Flag_Terrorism)

It is like the good old days of espionage and intrigue. The last man to be with him is in hiding.
"(Mario) Scaramella, pictured, is an environmental professor who has lectured in the U.S. and in his hometown of Naples, Italy.
He was also a consultant on the Italian government's Mitrokhin commission which investigated the KGB's activities in Italy and also looked at ties between the KGB and the Red Brigade terrorists.
Reports in Italy also suggested he was a member of the Italian secret services as well as working for the CIA and Colombian intelligence.
Two years ago Scaramella was shot at several times by a gunman from the Camorra, the Naples Mafia. He had been supervising the demo lition of an illegal building constructed by a suspected Godfather. "

And it is so obvious that this was a poisoning to silence him. Poor spook might have known of Putin's past pedophilia too.
All these rogue spys remind me of the movie "Ronin".

This isn't shocking news.

Wouldn't it be awesome to be worthy of an assassination attempt?
You people seem to be overlooking one obvious possibility. The guy did it to himself. His motivation may be that he's a little crazy and his death would be blamed on the people he hated the most.

This is the beginning of a new era and will widen the 'WOT' away from the Islamic fold.
Essentially this is bio-terrorism - other groups than the traditional Islamic ones have got inspired...basically this guy could have been a walking dirty-bomb.
It was a warning. And the Blair Government knows exactly who sent it and what it means. Not that they will tell the people.
If they merely wanted this guy dead then whoever it was could have done it quietly and with no media fuss.
This was meant to get headlines....whatever the guy did is incidental. The message is a message to the UK government. Something like: you are facing the threat of terror against your populace from many angles - you have used fear to control your populace and now you see you have made a two-edged sword.....

The Kremlin Pedophile, By Alexander Litvinenko, July, 05, 2006 (http://www.informationliberation.com/?id=18244)
"After graduating from the Andropov Institute, which prepares officers for the KGB intelligence service, Putin was not accepted into the foreign intelligence. Instead, he was sent to a junior position in KGB Leningrad Directorate. This was a very unusual twist for a career of an Andropov Institute's graduate with fluent German. Why did that happen with Putin?
Because, shortly before his graduation, his bosses learned that Putin was a pedophile. So say some people who knew Putin as a student at the Institute."

The "Red Brigade" reference is interesting, and germane to the thread..... in that many of the attacks, bombings and political assassinations in Italy from the 1970s right through to the late 1990s (and elsewhere in Europe) popularly attributed to that "left-wing group of terrorist cells" (known as the Red Bridages), were actually committed by extreme right-wing groups, with the pre-knowledge and support of the US intelligence community. Yet again, this was another set of "false flag" operations, designed to assign a public perception of the left as as "terrorists" and thereby vilify socialism. This was part of the multi-decade program Operation Gladio. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Gladio)

I think the whole plot is unraveling into a real conspiracy.
Other critics of Putin are falling ill (http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/europe/11/29/russia.illness.reut/index.html) and come to think of it, Russia did enact a law that formally permits the extra-judicial killings abroad of those Moscow accuses of "extremism" (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6188658.stm).
Wow, a conspiracy that really has dots connecting...:err:

It's not about critics of Putin.
Remember that Litvinenko's original claim was that elements within the Government staged attacks on the Russian people and attributed them to Chechen rebels.
Also remember the anomalies surrounding the Beslen siege.

True, true. The people exposing the Putin Government's antics (staging false flag ops) are the ones in danger. But...it is worth wondering about the double bluff aspect... why would Putin's people go ahead and do something so obvious as an action which points directly back at them? Maybe the operation was messed up.. meaning Litvinenko lived long enough to be able to talk and make accusations. But why polonium, a rare and hard to obtain material, which causes a relatively long (and agonizing) death, compared with a common, faster-acting, and cheaper poison such as cyanide... and an even simpler "solution" would be to shoot him in the head. So much speculation and so little to go go....
A car "accident" would have done just as well. Or in keeping with the spirit of Briton a "suicide".

Letters 'revealed secret hit squad' (http://www.guardian.co.uk/uklatest/story/0,,-6251660,00.html)
"Detectives are investigating letters smuggled out of Russia purporting to show the existence of a secret squad set up to target poisoned spy Alexander Litvinenko and others.
Scotland Yard has been passed copies of two letters apparently penned in jail by former Russian intelligence officer Mikhail Trepashkin, in one of which Mr Litvinenko is warned that both he and his family are at risk.
Mr Litvinenko's London friend Alex Goldfarb said scans of the letters came into his possession on Thursday and he passed them to Scotland Yard.
Mr Trepashkin, who worked for the KGB's successor the FSB until 1997, was tried in 2004, accused of being a British spy and passing secret information to Mr Litvinenko and his close friend the tycoon Boris Berezovsky, both exiled in London."
...the plot thickens...

I found this comment relating to Putin, and others connected to state sponsored terrorism. The author doesn't credit him/herself, but it makes for a most interesting read:
LITVINENKO, 9/11: THE MOSCOW CONNECTION
Every good spy thriller requires hard and fast evidence to solve a serious criminal conspiracy. In fiction, an author, can leave trails both real and false to tantalize the reader. In real life the trails are left cold by the removal of witnesses and evidence. Any connection will be a false trail to blame the crime on others. Every so often, even in death, further clues are revealed.
Alexander Litvinenko was such a trail. He was an insider in the security services of mother Russia. He had participated in the preparation and execution of covert operations. He understood the value of the manufactured crisis in hardening public opinion in the furtherance of state policy objectives. His master work exposed that the series of bombings in the Moscow of 1999 were elements of state terrorism. This provided the raison d'etre for the Second Chechen War.He published his evidence in his 2002 book Blowing Up Russia: Terror From Within. It was a masterstroke.
However, Alexander went further, much further. He not only accused Vladimir Putin of being responsible for these acts of terror and illuminating the fact that the Chechens were being held falsely responsible. He also accused Mr. Putin of being a pedophile and of training and funding Ayman al-Zawahiri, al Qaeda's number 2 man. This is the serious accusation that led to his execution.
The major covert operation of al Qaeda was the attack on America on September 11th 2001. This operation is still 'cloaked' by the false trail that led to a cave in Afghanistan. Moscow was the center of a complex preparation for this operation.
A Canadian diplomat died mysteriously in Moscow. His name was Marc Bastien. He was a 34 year old computer analyst who worked for the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade at Canada's Moscow embassy. In allegations from a man held in a Canadian jail who claimed to be a Lieutenant in the Office of Naval Intelligence of the U.S. Navy, Marc was supposed to be privy to highly secret documents outlining the September 11th attacks on New York.
A mysterious woman was seen in the company of Mr. Bastien. She was at his apartment where his body was eventually found. She has disappeared without a trace. Whether she was the bait or the actual assassin remains to be determined. The hard facts are a noble, young Canadian died in the service of his country, and that nation remains mute.
Robbery was a motive floated about, but Mr. Bastien's parents claim that all his belongings arrived in Canada intact. His body was tested and found to have alcohol and the anti-depressant drug clozapine. The Coroner's report leaves the cause and circumstances of death in limbo with the term "to follow".
However, nothing ever followed. We pick up the trail. What is clozapine? Clozapine was a drug developed by a company called Sandoz the originator of LSD in 1961. It was pulled off the market due to severe side effects resulting in death. It was put back on the market as a last resort use for severe treatment-resistant schizophrenia. It was to be used under very controlled supervision of a physician. Weekly hematological monitoring was required. Clozapine can cause agranulocytosis. This is a severe and acute reduction in white blood cells. White blood cells protect the body from infection. Marc was invited out to socialize with friends but declined because he wasn't feeling well. He also had a 'hot' date with the mysterious woman.
Another factor is the fact that clozapine has interactions with commonly used drugs like caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, and over the counter cold medications . Even if Marc didn't smoke, this drug is so dangerous even second hand smoke could severely increase it's toxic effects. It makes one drowsy. With these other catalysts seizures can occur leading to the point of breathing and heart collapse.
One has to wonder what country would send a severely schizophrenic individual to front line positions? None. Marc's previous posting was Pakistan. No al Qaeda there. Then there was the meeting with the two suspicious British men. One of whom has fled unidentified. The other refused to co-operate.
I think we can safely say Marc was murdered. I think he saw the blueprint to the coming covert operation of the century -- 9/11. I believe his expertise in computers added to his liability to certain dark forces. I believe Moscow was central to the 9/11 conspiracy. Litvinenko is just the latest casualty. Canada was well informed in The War On Terror. It still is. We were participating in the NATO diversion drills that day. We have made political hay in setting up a police state in law to deal with the future resistance of the masses to what has been planned for them. If that was the end of it, we could rest; but it is not.
A Wolfgang Bohringer was setting up a flight school on Fanning Island in the Kiribati chain. He was a close personal confidante of Mohamed Atta. They associated around the flight school in Venice, Florida. Said school was operated by Huffman Aviation. Its owner Wallace J. Hilliard had his personal Lear jet seized at Orlando Executive Airport by the DEA. 43 pounds of heroin were found aboard. It was the biggest drug bust in Central Florida history. The DC3's being trained on would make good drug mules.
Bohringer was also the personal pilot of Victor Kozeny a Russian mobster wanted in the theft of $150 million dollars from U.S. investors including former House Majority Leader George Mitchell. Everybody just seems to be connected to everybody in the post 9/11 world. Ain't that a shame.

"Canada was well informed in The War On Terror. It still is."
Well that's nuts. Canada might have a Conservative government now, but in 2001 there was a profoundly Liberal government in office, which made no secret of its dislike of the Bush and Cheney regime. Canada's left-wing has a number of members who virtually embrace anti-americanism.
To say that there was insider knowledge of some pre 9-11 American conspiracy and no-one in the Liberal ranks would have spoken out about it, or leaked it to the media is crazy.
