Hi Everybody.
Just switched from Windows ...
Tried to use hosts file on my new MB (to block web junk), and it doesn't work. :???:
Tried:
1. Reassigned permissions on hosts file.
2. Used root account.
3. Finally was able to alter the file (in /etc).
4. But it's still not blocking anything.
Additionally, not sure if it's related, but with altered hosts, my fan got more 'aggressive'.
It may be a coinsedense, but the fan become quiet again after I switched hosts to default.
If it in fact loads CPU, maybe it's due to DNS resolution ... If so, is the a way to kill DNS? I never used it with my home (Windows) boxes.
