amazon.de lists the iPhone as preorder for €899 (4gb) and €999(8gb).

There will be no (legit) way in the US to get a contract-free iPhone. You get it for $499/$599 with a Cingular contract.

Before "you"? This is a pre-order for Q4/2007, if Steve's estimate works out. Possibly later.

As I understand it, apple has several wireless suitors in Europe, but they don't have a carrier yet. That's why it's not scheduled to arrive in Europe until late 07.

There is no cingular in Europe. All the UK networks are bidding for the rights to it now.

The reason for the delay however is not the network well it is kind of but the main reason for the delay is because the European model will have 3G. There is huge room for growth in the European market becasue of 3G.
