"President George W Bush has ordered US forces to launch a military offensive against Iranian officials and Revolutionary Guards officers behind a support and funding network for anti-American fighters in Iraq.
Mr Bush signed the clandestine directive after he was given new intelligence on the scale of Iranian operations to foment violence in Iraq.
US troops were operating under the new instructions when they raided an Iranian "liaison office" in northern Iraq last week, detaining five men, in the latest showdown with Teheran's agents."

Though I know that Iran has been "meddling" in Iraq, this does not bode well with the Middle East situation as a whole. Soon it will be Iran's choice of what to do as the US and Iraqi forces start rounding up and detaining Iranians all over Iraq. If the evidence obtained is real and worth investigating, how will we respond to it?
This is real. It is going on right now. And our news media hasn't reported or accepted it.

It's just a provocation.
Ahmadinejad is too wise and Bush too stupid to pull it off.
Soon the Israeli puppet-masters will get fed up waiting for the US to do their killing for them though and it will kick off. Then the US will be sitting ducks in a pincer movement. Maybe Russia will even get involved though Iran could probably defeat the US without that.
The Neocons are a cancer...they need to die out or be radiated out. Either way doesn't much matter, taking on Iran will see them wiped from the map but at the cost of too many lives...better they just bvggered off but if it has to be the hard way it is for the good of all in the long run....
As they falsely said of Saddam.....it doesn't matter about the 'how' - the world will be a better and safer place without them.
I'd be careful trying to divine whatever pressure is possibly being placed behind the scenes, from what we see up front. Ahmadinejad is just whatever the Supreme Leader wants his pull-string to babble, and I'd say everyone else will play this very close to the chest. (Although there was a low-key attempt to impeach Ahmadinejad last week, IIRC)
All we know for certain, is that we finally got sanctions -- and -- whatever the evil neocon conspiracy was doing before wasn't working; so that will probably change.
Although, all bets are off if the neocons are over there developing the next iPhone, and then we wont know until they tell us -- or someone grabs the footage on a cellphone.

And what evidence do you have for this? I don't believe this for one split second.

Well, if the wikipedia article is any indication, Ahmadinejad is more the Mayor of Iran, than what we think of as El Presidente.
Although I wish they had elected a President with more sayings, my kid's Woody doll from Toy Story has a bigger variety.
Somebody's poisoned the water hole!
...besides, Senor Segovius and I are in agreement on this, so it has to be true.

I never said he was a mouthpiece though...just that they could remove him if they wished as he has no real power.
.....as he has no real power.
yes...yes...Yes!!
...seriously though, Ahmadinejad is a guy who knows what side his bread is buttered on; and that he has to watch his step. (And probably believes what he's saying.)

"Bush lacks political power to hit Iran
And finally, Iran will continue to pursue its nuclear program while the world continues to "babble." If American and European actions continue in the current pace and quality, there will be no change in the Iranian nuclearization path. Instead of allotting several months for diplomatic activity and preparing for a military strike on Iran's nuclear infrastructure, the world continues to talk nonsense and play with illusions regarding the success of moderating diplomatic moves.
President Bush lacks the political power to attack Iran. As an American strike in Iran is essential for our existence, we must help him pave the way by lobbying the Democratic Party (which is conducting itself foolishly) and US newspaper editors. We need to do this in order to turn the Iranian issue to a bipartisan one and unrelated to the Iraq failure...
...The Americans must act. Yet if they don't, we'll (Israel) do it ourselves, because there are no free rides and our existence isn't guaranteed. Addressing Iran would have positive implications for us in terms of the strategic balance in our region and when it comes to Hizbullah, stability in Lebanon, and Syria's power."

This is all moving so quickly. I don't know the outcome. But it doesn't look good in any direction.

Bush’s political powers are waning, but that makes him all the more dangerous. Look for an escalation in secret, under the table projects and missions. Bush and Cheney will do everything that they can to work under the congressional and public radar.

Looking at Europes history they seem to be good at burying their head in the sand, they did it with Hitler, they are doing it with Iran, and they have had their oil cut off twice now by Russia, and they are making deals with China while China is learning how to shoot down satellites. Euope's has a piss poor history of paying attention to whats knocking at their door until its to late. This is more of the same.
While the U.S. is going to have to do something with Iran's WMD program I fear Europe will be on the sidelines once again.

Morbid prediction: World War III kicks off within 3 years, initiated by a nuclear strike by "Terrorists". 80 million die in combat, half incinerated by nukes. I'm one of them.
