Can someone explain exactly what the benefits and uses of Carracho might be?
It looks kinda cool. But I haven't got a clue what it's for.

OK, I know it's a peer-to-peer type thingie, but it's obviously not for downloading Bill Laswell's remixes of Miles Davis... so what might I expect to use it for?

Useful for pirating software.

or sharing porn.

that's what it's best at
Like Hotline, Carracho is best as a place for people to get together and talk.
Yes, usually this means warez groups or porn sharing servers. It also means gaming clans, or just social gatherings. Rather than Gnutella or Napster, Carracho gives you message boards and live chat in addition to the files.

Carracho is like the Devil's playground. You connect to other people's servers and help yourself to stuff you didn't pay for. It's great. I owe my extensive cd collection to the smarties that developed it.

Well I've downloaded it.
Holy Hell, WHAT an ugly UI.
Does anyone have any especial favourite servers suffed to the gunwales with MP3s to suggest?

It's okay to discuss the software itself on AppleInsider, but when the discussion digresses into giving out actual avenues to access illegally pirated software and music, the discussion must stop.
And yes, the UI is horrendous and looks to have been designed by a seven-year-old with a short attention span.

Oops. Sorry Brad.
I've got it running now and I seem to be attached to 769 servers all offering me pirated music and software. I had no idea. It really is indeed the very Devil's playground and it's quite put me off my lunch.
(In a weird sort of way this is actually true.)

Carracho is similar to Hotline, but where Hotline is (much) more PieCie oriented, Carracho is Mac. There's overall much less porn, and admins are usually more friendly than on Hotline.

Huh? Hotline used to be ALL mac then PCs gradually got in to it.. Now it's non existant practically. I was on Hotline 5 years ago when it was the sh!t. I was on it recently using Zombie, and it's now a pathetic porn/banner scheme site after site. Oh well.

lets hope carracho never has PC counterpart or it will quickly turn into a 2nd hotline...already kinda is with the amount of porn being added
i actually use carracho to get legit software and share things with friends legally
sorry if this is inappropriate but.... i often use carracho to download software without buying it to test it and get used to it and decided if i want to buy it or not, if i like it i buy it, if i dont like it i trash it and dont buy it, so i use it as a demo type thing, half legit

Looks neat. Is it similar to Direct connect? Because i dont understand that very much. I think I'll check it out today, cuz i can't get any other P2P to work right.

Well, sometimes a lot of us have to do that. Especially when you need to work on a lot of different apps. I mean, I bought PS, IL e.a. But to see how good some apps are, demo's just don't cut it (if they're even available). Then, if you like it, buy it.
