PELOSI LOWERS THE BOOM
Wed May 16 2007 14:43:59 ET

After losing a string of embarrassing votes on the House floor because of procedural maneuvering, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has decided to change the current House Rules to completely shut down the floor to the minority.

The Democratic Leadership is threatening to change the current House Rules regarding the Republican right to the Motion to Recommit or the test of germaneness on the motion to recommit. This would be the first change to the germaneness rule since 1822.

In protest, the House Republicans are going to call procedural motions every half hour.

 What happened to the spirit of biparisanship, Nancy? Or is it just revenge for those pesky Republican tactics over the last few years? If true, this pretty much shows that everything the Dems ran on in 2006..and I mean everything...was total and unmitigated crap. Bipartisanship? Crap. Ehtics reform? Crap. Spending controls? Unbelievable crap! Next we'll hear she is going to consider impeachment too. I mean, hey, what's one more broken promise?

Rock 'n Roll, baby. Freedom of speech!

Get with the program, SDW. The ends justify the means when we are fighting those fascist Republicans. Stay tuned... This is the same fight as the coming storm over the freedom-butchering "unFairness Doctrine." The same fight as McCain-Feingold, the Incumbent Power Protection Act. Stopping the other side from talking and communicating is where we have come to in this country.

Republicans used to have the numbers to railroad the minority. Democrats do not have enough votes, even with pork bribes, to do the same. And they will if they get the chance. Nancy is pissed off because she cannot keep her caucus together and unified.

BTW.. Gallup Poll out yesterday.. Congressional approval at 29%, four points LESS than Artman's Chimpy McFlightsuit.

I thought this thread was going to be about about Ron Paul having a different view on the War in Iraq compared to the other mainstream Republican candidates in the latest debates.

With republican big dogs and Fox fake-news network saying that Paul can not disagree with them.

Ohhh well.

This thread is an illustration of how liberals have principles, while (extreme) conservatives don't. If Nancy Pelosi thuly is trying to drown out the minority opinion by changing rules in existence since 1822, similar to the Republican's attempt to get rid of the filibuster, then I GUARANTEE that EVERY liberal on this board will be 100% against it. I absolutely guarantee it.

Um. Sure. You really believe that? When policy decisions hang in the balance along with "undoing" 13 years of Republican screwing up of the government?

I want some of that you are smoking or snorting in BH.

You're on. I guarantee you that at least one liberal will find some excuse to support it. Just watch.

Wash Times (http://www.washtimes.com/op-ed/20070517-100743-4875r.htm)

But let no one think that this episode is primarily about political tactics. It is a sign of the divisiveness of the agenda which the House's Democratic leadership is promoting. The "100 days" is no Contract With America. From Iraq to taxation to terrorist surveillance, this leadership pushes a narrow agenda which leaves the moderate wing of the Democratic party in the lurch, to say nothing of Republicans and the few remaining conservative Democrats. This fact is made clearer each time a Republican motion to recommit cleaves off a few dozen Democrats who prefer a more reasonable approach.
In the larger picture, this resort by Mrs. Pelosi and her allies to an extraordinary and unprecedented measure is a sign of the strain of an unworkable agenda which cannot win the consensus of a majority.

How dare you evil Republicans offer amendments to legislation that cleave a couple dozen Democrats and form a .... MAJORITY. Such things cannot be tolerated and we must put an end to them now.
