The large iPods definitely won't have their prices lowered. Apple typically lowers prices every two years worth of product updates, (not to say there aren't exceptions) and just last year the prices came down $50. With the 6th-gen full screen iPod replacing the 5th gen, the cost of components and "shrinkage" will keep the price at $249 I bet.

Note: the new, fullscreen iPod will be 6th gen. Not a new product in its own category. It wouldn't make sense to have a fourth high end iPod- too diverse a product line in all aspects.

Well i've been saving up over the last few days since I heard about this 6G ipod, im so excited about it, ive got the money ready, I just hope it is really nice (iphone, without phone) and not too expensive.

So you'll be happy if you get a 8GB for that price.

Does anyone know if MacNN or anyone else is going to be doing a live feed, either text or video from the event tomorrow like they did with new iMac's?

I was going to get the new iPod (24hrs to go, yay!) but then my girlfriend pointed out that iPhone is due to arrive here in the UK before Xmas so why get both?

And I thought - good point our lass! But I'll probably still go ahead and get both anyway... especially if the new iPod has WiFi like Digitimes are reporting... if it's SSD, MultiTouch etc etc but no WiFi then I think I'll wait for iPhone... just hopefully not on O2

when i posted this it was the day that EVERY news agency was reporting the event for tomorrow. so it seemed really obvious what i was talking about.

That's great except for people who aren't reading it on the day you posted it. Ever try using the search feature on a forum? Threads like this can make searching almost useless.

If you're going to start a thread on an "official" press release...
- Link to or at least mention the "official" press release that the thread is supposed to be about.
- Give the thread a meaningful title, a title that is clear to everyone even years from now.

o really? i wasnt aware i could buy the new ipods already...o wait you cant! thats hwy im posting about a future product in the future product forum. whens theres a future ipod forum ill post similar threads there.
