iPod Touch 802.1X

Is there or will there be any way to implement 802.1X on an iPod Touch?

We need to authenticate through 802.1X on campus in order to get onto the wireless network, and wireless would be rather pointless without it.

This is highly unlikely, as the iPhone does not have 802.1X support at this point. Being in the IT group of a large university where 802.1X is used across campus this is a big issue for us, and we are brining it up with Apple. In fact a group is scheduled to fly out to Cupertino in a while to talk with Apple about "the iPhone in Enterprise", and this is the first thing on the list. I have also talked with a now ex-iPhone engineer and he said that 802.1X almost made it onto the slate of features for the first round.
