Solution to the Minimization Crisis.

What if, in lieu of minimizing to the dock, apple would do something like TaskMenuBar on the far right of the menu bar- but have it be like the XP Taskbar- in that, minimized windows wouldn't take up seperate spaces as they do in the dock, but go to the applications' icon. I'll do some photoshop mocking up in a bit.

Oooh, I like that idea, but instead of having it in a seperate area, why not have it go into the application icon in the Dock?

Then you select the window in the pop-up menu under "Minimized Windows" or whatever.

Ever since I saw this Dock fix linked to from the Ars review of X 10.1, I've thought it was the way for Apple to go in making the Dock more useful and powerful.

I love the drag n' drop pop-up folders, especially how the icon shrinks to menu-item size:

That is really cool Xool, but it could be a pain if you just wanted to drop the file onto the dock. I guess you could specify modifier keys to control whether to drop the file on the dock or in the folder, ie. drag file to folder does the pop-up stuff, and command-drag file to the folder will shift it over to make room in the dock for the file.

Well, if you only have a single window open in an app, "hide" pretty much accomplishes the same thing, without the minimize effect.
