A mock-up based on their inside intel.

They're saying it has a multi-touch screen. That really doesn't make any sense for a laptop.

It's a mockup. It says as much in the article.

Could be Apple's counter-intelligence getting out there; thus the extra stuff like multi-touch screens to try and distract us. I'm on the side of being wary of this report.

So they're posting a rumor from an anonymous source along with mock-ups they created. Right. How is this supposed to be more credible than any other rumor site?

The assumption is that Wired's editors hold their sources to a higher standard than a nothing-to-lose blog like 9to5mac.

The mockups are well done, and they claim they're based on their source's descriptions. It's about as good a job as you can do with an insider tip, if that's what they have. Of course the source is anonymous - did you think they would reveal the inside source's name?

Whether it's true or not, I don't know, but the fact that they're not revealing the source shouldn't be what you judge the rumor on; you should judge it on Wired's record and the feasibility of the claim.

apple is either:

a) getting into the transportation business (http://www.macair.com.au/)

b) getting into vacuum products (http://www.airmac.com/)

c) teaming up with airlines to Deliver iPod Integration (http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2006/nov/14ipod.html)

d) none of the above dammit! it's a wireless tablet/PDA/phone/toaster/dishwasher/....

insanity rules! :D
