From CNN: (http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/04/15/mccain-camp-pulls-its-proposal-for-passion-fruit-mousse/)
At least three “McCain Family Recipes” posted on John McCain’s campaign Web site and credited to his wife Cindy – including Ahi Tuna with Napa Cabbage Slaw, Passion Fruit Mousse, and Farfalle Pasta with Turkey Sausage, Peas and Mushrooms — appeared to be direct copies of dishes created by the Food Network. Another seemed to be a slightly altered version of a dish prepared by TV chef Rachael Ray.
Naturally, the McCain camp is blaming the always guilty overzealous intern.
For a man whose entire persona is based on "authenticity", I find this to be a troubling incident. Ersatz "old family recipes" are such a, well, inauthentic way to pander to the notion of happy family, hearth and home.

If I were going to design a non-story I don't think I could top this.

I disagree. There are lots and lots of non-stories that top this, close at hand.

That's the last straw. I'm voting for Alan Keyes.
"I think these people, in the kitchen, they can't cook very well... and they are bitter... bitter because they were told on the Food Network that things would taste good. So they cling to their cookbooks, and KitchenAids, and express anti-Rachel Ray sentiments..."

All this food talk is making me hungry. I didn't plagerise this, try it out, it is awesome:
Krispy Kreme donut french toast -
Slice stale donuts in half, dip in egg/milk mixture and fry in butter, top with
a slice of canned pear. You don't need syrup, the glaise turns into caramel
by itself. Be careful not to overcook, as they burn easily.
8-)

I sense a recipe thread coming...
adda.. do you have the recipe for disaster in Iraq?
In looking around I think I found a few... O-bitter Change Cookies, Foot Tapping Cupcakes, Gannon's Dannon, Uncle Ted's Jack Daniels Submersible Pie, and Ashcrofts "Ashes of the Bill of Rights" souffle.

That is maybe the most amazing recipe I've ever seen in my entire life.
And I'm assuming by "amazing", you mean "guarantees plenty more work for my profession."

Utterly sickening, this. And it is absolutely no wonder that the MSM has completely ignored it, lest they unearth some other example of falsification of traditional values out of St. John's camp.
Well I made Irish oats in the rice cooker and it boiled over and made a small mess this morning. The oats were good. They were McCann's oats. It's close enough for me.

You can't get more mainstream than CNN can you?

A single mention on a CNN blog. We can consider having been taken up by the mainstream when it's a belligerent question in a debate.

I think this easily says as much about McCain's character as Obama not being able to bowl.

It's not the recipe, it's the coverup! Which would be, um, the sauce! Saucegate!
