what do people recomend on the logitech z-5500
is it good with an imac
Yeah. Even if it's old, it's still the best of its kind. You get reasonably accurate sound, huge bass, surround, and a good input module that accepts digital input and multiple surround encodings. If all you cared about was accurate stereo sound, you could also pick up a pair of Behringer Truth B2030A or another active studio speaker.

How do u connect it digital and what plugs do I need to connect it digitally to my iMac
Optical cable with Toslink plug on one end, 3.5mm plug (mini Toslink) on the other end. The 3.5mm goes into iMac and regular Toslink goes into Z-5500.
