What would the highest performance SATA HD for the 2008 Mac Pro?

A 10,000 or 15,000 rpm drive with a lower capacity?

Thank you.

That Depends on what your doing. For normal stuff, get the bigger one, but for video or sound editing, you want higher speed.

There are no 15,000 RPM SATA drives, only SAS and SCSI drives are that fast.

The new VelociRaptor is supposed to be the fastest SATA drive, but it won't fit in any Mac Pro without modification.

The 150GB Raptors are pretty fast, but the 1TB Hitachi drives are about the same price and kicking the old Raptor's heels.

If you want a 15k drive, you'll need Apple's $800 RAID card or similar.

You could buy a 3.5" to 5.25" adapter and stick one in the second optical drive bay.

I forgot about that, and I did put a SATA drive in that bay for a while. It's a bit tricky to do that because you need to route a SATA cable up there.
