Currently I am completely obsessed with "As" by Stevie Wonder. I think it's the best song ever written. My iTunes play count on it is 138 and rising. And it's a seven minute long track.
What song/s have you become totally obsessed with for a period of time?

I haven't checked, but his little vacations last around 2-3 weeks.
This seems about the right time.

I didn't have any reason to post here for the past few weeks. I was in L.A. for the L.A. Times festival of books, and then this past week I was in chicago for a big weekend family party.

I'm currently obsessed with "When I am Through With You" by The VLA. It's the theme tune to Damages starring Glenn Close

Musical genius? Hardly. His strength is in his ability to self-promote and sell his image. Take away the gimmickry, and all that's left is a very average act.

Dead Soul Tribe, Some Things You Can't Return.
Had it on an endless loop for awhile. Now the endless loop is their entire catalog, for 2 weeks now. Something about the music just grabbed me. Love it.

Some of the songs that I listened to over and over...
Fugitive Motel by Elbow
Forget Her by Jeff Buckley
The Blower's Daughter by Damien Rice
Damage by Sylvian/Fripp...
Wow, I guess I really like the emotional down tempo stuff.

Actually I just realized that 2 of those are breakup songs and the other 2 remind me of 2 exes...
Damage helped me break up with Cathine.
Fugitive Motel reminds me of Medeleine.
The Blower's Daughter reminds me of Jackie.
Forget her helped me get over both Jackie and Medeleine (was still getting over Medeleine when Jackie and I broke up).

I'm still stuck on Life for Rent - dido. Though I hate Who Make You Feel which doesn't fit in with the rest of the album at all, most of the songs are absolutely beautiful and relaxing. It's just easy to listen in long and uneventful nights.

I really really prefer her first record. Also the first Keane record.
They both give me the same feeling when compared to their second records, that the first record was a masterpiece, but the second was just a bunch of songs that didn't quite match the magic of the first.

Warren Zevon. This girl I'm dating has the whole Zevon collection. He was a resident of Philly back in the 80's during his lost, lost, lost weekend...had a love affair with a female DJ and lived in a condo overlooking Rittenhouse Square.
The song that I love and has been going through my head is "Nighttime In The Switching Yard (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrvvAMYAku8)" from Excitable Boy. Truly a great songwriter and composer, he will be missed.
This song sounds awesome LOUD for some reason. I guess it resembles another song in mind collective mind (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHC6QRaq6d0)...I wonder who stole from who...I'd say the latter. :smokey:

Yeah although Under The Iron Sea is growing on me the more I listen to it. But I agree the first is better.
Recently, I got stuck on Girlfriend in a Coma by The Smiths but the new Coldplay song Sonic might take over:
