At least somebody figured it out. It's one of those great things about having an accelerometer.

Full QWERTY and SureType entry - hold the phone in landscape mode and you can take advantage of a full-qwerty keypad. Use the phone in portrait mode and you can enter data on a SureType keyboard. It's not universal yet, true, but the iPhone does have a landscape keyboard in some places (i.e. the web browser).

Yep, after a year it still hasn't crossed the mind of anyone at Cupertino that it might be beneficial to use that big, comfortable keyboard outside of Safari.

Heh, when you Google "universal landscape keyboard" this is the first result that pops up.
