Touchscreen while on phone call

I have a phone that when you put the phone up to your ear, the touch screen does not fade to black so you can't inadvertently end the call.

Is there a setting to change that?

How can i fix it?

Are you using a case to protect your iphone ?

that was it, thanks. I didn't realize that the sensor was in the upper left corner.

was using a Speck rubber case.

now chaged to the switcheasy exo skeleton one (www.switcheasy.com) Very nice.
