.Ipa's not updating in iTunes? U may have this problem to and not realize it!

I like to download apps from the app store, but my brother uses the computer sometimes and i'm scared i will pay for an app and then he'll get mad at me and then he'll delete it, so I downloaded an .ipa file from the internet and put it in iTunes. I do this as a backup incase my brother deletes the actual .ipa files I buy. But then I noticed in iTunes there was an update for an app I got off internet, so i clicked the check for update button on the applications tab in iTunes, but the .ipa I got off the internet won't update in iTunes.

How do I fix this so that the .ipa's I download from the internet will update in iTunes?

First of all... you cannot download ipa files from any other location and expect them to work in iTunes. Application purchases are tied to your account so even if someone does delete them off your computer... simply download them again and you will NOT be charged twice. If you have already made these purchases, just download them again via iTunes... it's as simple as that. As for the ipa files you downloaded elsewhere, you might as well delete them as they will NOT update.
