In THIS election, what are the primary reasons for why you're voting for either McCain or Obama? (or another candidate, I suppose...??)

I'm voting for Obama because my neighbor is a community organizer, and she will stop feeding me if I vote for McCain. She is a better cook than my wife, and I blush when I lie - so that is that.

The issues! You know the economy, Iraq, Healthcare etc. That's why I'm voting for Obama/Biden and not McSame/Gun toting soccer mom.

Most important issues/reasons to vote for Obama:

The economy
The budget
Energy Policy
Healthcare
Education
The war in Iraq
Avoiding future wars
Work with the UN and other nations, not against them
Restore integrity to Washington
Restore intelligence to Washington
Restore eloquence to the presidency
Inspire Americans to think
Restore international respect to America

I'm writing in Ron Paul because I cannot stomach the idea of either McCain or Obama. Yes, yes, I know Obama will ultimately win, but that is that.

Or you could be helping McCain to win. 4 more years of stupidity. Can this country take that? Or if McSame dies we get Palin. Think about that for awhile.

Think about it because one way or another you can't avoid the outcome.

I will be voting for McCain because I love the improbable. I mean Palin is such a rock star, I can put aside my fundamental issues with the Republican ticket because I so love me some Palin.

No, really.

What? Why the laughter?

What is my vote based on? Self preservation/interest. I think McCain/Palin would be horrid for the US.

I'm voting for Barack Obama because his understanding of national and international issues is superior to that of John McCain.

I'm voting for Barack Obama because he will not actively seek to overturn Roe vs. Wade either by legislative initiative or judicial appointment.

I'm voting for Barack Obama because I wish to see a respectable leader in the White House that will not be a national embarrassment.

I'm voting for Barack Obama because he has the judgment needed in these difficult times, specifically on issues of foreign affairs, national defense, and healthcare.

Basically: What tonton said.

No, really... I am voting for the candidate who isn't afraid of little old issues (www.barackobama.com).

Not likely, there are many, many people who registered Republican just to vote for Ron Paul, and they are now disowning the GOP. Obama will do fine without us. McCain's the one losing people.

For me, the only presidential candidates worth voting for are those who are not corporately owned. Unfortunately, they have zero chance because of (a) the fossilized winner-takes-all electoral system with no proportional representation, and (b) the media has marginalized the worthwhile candidates to give the two performing circus seals, ie Obama and McCain 99% of the airtime. So the only practical way of exercising my right is side with one of these two, although this is a most dissatisfying way to cast a ballot. I feel like not voting, but I have my own reasons why I feel I must cast a vote. If I can bring myself to vote for either of these two, it will be far more a vote against his opposition, rather than for the candidate, ie whichever is the lesser of the two evils we have been landed with. As of yet, I do not know who I shall vote against/for.

I'm voting for Palin/McCain, because they are demonstrably not what they claim to be for, and lie about it, and know that I know that they're lying, which makes me feel like an insider.

And then I can vote for them to do something about big gummit even though they obviously won't but our mutual death pact pisses off liberals which is better than sex.

:D

I'm not voting for John Bush (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6ZnHTWWErM) because I've had enough of seeing my ex Party (:embarrass) drag this country to the ground in almost every respect.

I mean, to **** up a thing or two is "fine"....but from A to bloody Z??

And four more years of Bush with the possibility of a far right wing religious wacko taking over by default is a very scary proposition to me.

Even though the electoral college looks good the popular vote is at a dead heat right now. I'm hoping this will change when more of Palin comes to light. However because it's been close Bush won twice. I really can't stress enough how bad that would be this time around. McSame and the snowbilly are an even worse situation than Bush. This country will be in sad shape if those bozos win. I'm sorry but this is exactly the kind of thing the republicans are counting on.

Those people who don't vote or vote for McCain/Palin shouldn't complain about the condition this country will be in after 4 years of those two. They got what they deserved in that case.

I agree: McCain might lose one or two, but Obama doesn't gain.

It is like we are given a choice of Coke or Pepsi and some of us who like green tea are way out in the dark because so many of the Coke and Pepsi supporters like the sugary sweetness the HFCS in Coke and Pepsi give them. Not only that but the marketing and packaging is so cool. While green tea on the other hand is not sugary, not flashy and does not lead to systemic illness such as diabetes etc.

People want their high fructose corn syrup. They want cool packaging and cool marketing.

They don't want no stinkin green tea..

This is America !

But it's worse than this. It's also: "You drink green tea?!?! Are you fucking retarded? I mean can't you see how much better Pepsi (or Coke) is?!?! You must be retarded and a nutjob or something too!"

Yes I have indeed seen a lot of that...

Sadly.

Compounding this sorry state is the legions of staunchies... who will only vote one way because of a bunch of reasons which have little to do with the issues, such as 'its traditional in the family' or whatever. For many staunchies, their party could field a monkey and he would still get the vote.

You sure? First time he was Selected by the Supreme Court, who decided to stop the re-count just before Al Gore was about to take the lead. In 2004...the exit polls averaged Kerry being 2.5% ahead, and then a previously unknown electoral phenomenon happened: a late surge of Republican voters headed to the polls in the early evening, and Bush got his 2nd term.

btw...the "monkey" reference wasn't directed at GWB...
