POSITIVE

Video montage of youth through their development, for example:

Clip of cute baby smiling in a their mothers arms
Toddlers wobbling around
Children running out of school bus
Kids birthday/blowing out candle
Kids playing in a pool/kids playing in a park/swinging on a swing
Kids doing a school play/performance
Girl performing solo (singing)
Clips of high school athletics (i.e. football game, baseball game, track meet)
Clips of teens skateboarding, on roller coaster, texting, etc.
Students working on math/taking a test
College students graduating.

Tagline: "For those you love more than anything, vote for Barack Obama."

Impact: this ad would appeal to elderly and adult's nostalgia, parents' sense of protection, and american values. This is a very emotional and simple ad. Enhances Obama's image of youth as it contrasts with McCain.

NEGATIVE

DISCLAIMER: I understand the whole that with negative ads the republicans will call the democrats hypocrites for not adhering to new politics, but I think with the absurd and negative ads McCain has been airing, Obama needs to hit back hard. These are both pretty drastic, but I think they would be very effective.

1. Dramatic images flash across the screen with a heart beat in the background. The heartbeat gets faster, and then flatlines. The narrator poses the question, "Will McCain be able to lead?"

Impact: it's a direct rebuttal to McCain's, "Is Obama ready to lead?" ad, therefore it's harder for the McCain campaign to claim it's an unwarranted attack. It strikes on the fears of many that McCain wouldn't last a full term in office, leaving Palin the president.

2. Video clips of McCain telling obvious lies, narrator says, "McCain is willing to lie to you to become president. What would be be willing to do if he was president?"

Impact: Uses powerful language to denounce McCain's ads, and pains McCain is desperate and willing to do anything to get what he wants.

Obama's new "Still" ad is pretty shitty. It's doesn't have a coherent, recognizable message. "Real Change" is a good one, though.

McCain has better ads, that's for damned sure.

"Still" wasn't terrible, but it won't be effective to the demographic group he's needs to win to win the election.

Obama should take his speech in Green Bay, Wisconsin (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmTgpZ8X51I) and cut it into 22 commercials.

This was more than a standard stump speech, it was a new vision for government. The content of the speech, not necessary the delivery, was what impressed me, although he speaks with tremendous power, confidence and assuredness about his ideas. He listed one idea after the other, spelling out his intentions to overhaul the current practices and open up the door to new and better ones.

The way he is looking to open government to the American people to participate and review what he is doing. To remove the secrecy...sure, time will tell, but that he's even putting forth these plans is worthwhile.

He truly seems to be on a mission to dismantle the old way of Washington, but will they let him?

There's a lot at stake and the ideas he's putting forward will threaten the status quo tremendously. He's spelling it out clearly and putting them on notice, as of now.

John McCain couldn't hold a candle to this (http://speeches.demconwatchblog.com/2008/09/barack-obama-speech-from-green-bay-wi.html) (transcript).
