Hey Guys,

I just bought a mac strictly for programming. I'm going to start by learning ruby, and then rails etc.

I was wondering what programs everyone here things I need, and/or if there are any good tips/hints I should know before starting?

Thanks!

It sounds like you would buy a Cadillac strictly to listen to the radio. That said, every Mac ships with gcc-based Xcode. Xcode is considered by many to be the best development environment on any platform. Ruby is included.

If Ruby on Rails is what you want, then you may want Locomotive 2.0.8. It is the most recent version of the Cocoa-based Ruby on Rails integrated development environment (IDE).
