iTunes managed copy speculation

I realize this is already being discussed in parts of this thread:

But that thread has lots of subthreads, including speculation on iTunes 9 being a Cocoa app, the merits of Blu-Ray vs movie downloads, etc.

I'm interested in speculating whether or not iTunes will allow managed copy rips of Blu-Ray or even DVD movies.

If so, this could be a game-changer, to say the least. I could finally rip my DVD collection to some kind of NAS without messing around with Handbrake, decryption, etc. As long as the terms of the DRM are reasonable, I might just accept it as a compromise over having a 100% DRM-free rip. If the copy scales up to AppleTV and down to the iPod touch, so much the better.

What are the odds of this happening? Will the DVD copy protection association see this as a way to increase sales, or as a corruption of their format?
