The solution is to kill the demand. Stop eating meat. Doubt if many people will do that though.

Indeed. It's all hypocracy really. And I am a vegetarian btw.

You know id love to head out to Canada with an M16 during the time they club seals and just just shooting at the clubbers.

Here's how Hy-Line, the company behind the hatchery describes their operation-

    Animal Welfare

The employees of Hy-Line International and our network of family farms understand the important contribution that our breeding flocks play in feeding millions of people around the world. To that end, we are committed to the humane and respectful treatment of each and every bird in our care. All of our employees are expected to be advocates for animal welfare. We have developed and implemented welfare policies that cover all aspects of bird management. Our employees and cooperators are specifically trained on the proper methods of handling birds to minimize distress or injury. Vaccinations against important poultry diseases and free access to nutritionally balanced diets are provided, giving our birds a healthy and safe living environment. Our flocks are under the supervision of caring veterinarians, nutritionists and flock supervisors at all times.

    Reporting Violations

In the event that any member of the general public may witness purposeful or willful neglect or abuse of our birds by employees or agents of Hy-Line, they may send a confidential email incident report to: [email protected]. Sufficient details (your name & telephone callback number, who, what, when & where, etc.) are needed in order for Hy-Line to act on these reports.

If violations of our welfare policies occur and are witnessed by Hy-Line employees, then they are strictly required to report any abuse or violations of policies to any Manager, with Managers then reporting the incident to their Department Director and ultimately to the company President.

Your moral high horse/ground would be the first casualty, and you'd be a worse killer than them, because you know the difference!

    seconded

    shame meat is delicious

as a compromise best solution is to only buy meat from those who don't mistreat animals

can be very hard, but doable, and with time they'll get the message and start better treating animals

I hate seeing animal cruelty. It makes me feel ashamed of myself living in this current age and such advanced technology that destroys so many animals these days.

Orcas kill baby seals too, you know. There's a great episode of Wildboyz that shows some pretty serious animal to animal cruelty, via a pod of orcas who didn't even appear to be too hungry. Clubbing would have been a kinder death.

And also lets not forget, let's not forget dude, that keeping assault rifles... an M16... you know privately-owned... within Canada... That ain't legal either.
