8-Core 2.93GHz Mac Pro with 128GB DDR3?

Here's my question can this system handle above 32GB DDR3? \





When I read articles like this...

I'm thinking 8 x 16GB DDR3 = 128GB Cost I don't know yet?



Using Snow Leopard or Snow Leopard Server which is going to boot in 64-bit?





Any input would definitely help!

    Just because Apple doesn't "support" something doesn't mean it won't work, the hardware is almost certainly capable of handling 128GB of RAM.



    However, Apple has a tendency to use EFI to restrict the maximum RAM capacity of their machines- that's how they've kept all but the most recent Macbooks from being able to run 8GB. So it really just depends on what someone at Apple has decided to allow.

    Yeah and actually Samsung announced a single SODIMM 8GB DDR3 as well so I don't know if 2009 MacBook Pro can handle 16GB DDR3 either.

    When 32GB DDR3 ram is available.........ha ha. As soon as I post this, 64GB ram modules will be available.

    Yeah I'm sure it just I take a educated guess that the 128GB DDR3 would cost $21,000!

    I was looking at this recently. Unless I am mistaken, no one is making 8GB DDR3 ECC unbuffered modules today. If correct, Apple couldn't possibly claim support since there are no shipping products.

    By the way, if you REALLY care about memory capacity, the 8-core XServe has 12 slots....
