Some Advice?
Ok, here is the deal. I am currently teaching music in a public school. I make OK money, have good benefits, etc. But, I am starting to think of going into a computer related field (Mac related preferably). I am in the Philly area...which can include Wilmington, DE and South Jersey.
What do you guys think I should do? I don't have advanced skills on the Mac but I do have significant user experience and seem to pick up things quickly. I also obviously have knoweldge of the arts and an interest in music. I am interested in DV and well, am just totally addicted to Macs in general.
I have considered applying for work in an Apple store when one opens up in this area. Though I'm not sure the money would be enough. I'm in the mid thirties concerning salary and in education there are guaranteed raises per yer. In 10 years, with a master's I'll be at at least 50K in today's dollars. To leave I would need at least 45K now with a similar top end potential (75K).
But, to be honest I seem to have been losing interest in music education for quite some time now. It has become "just" a job. I am starting grad school in two weeks and I'm not excited about it. Not at all.
So, I am not sure what to do. It is that whole "mid twenties what the hell do I really want to with my life" thing. Keep in mind I'm married and am in my third year in education. Leaving education would also leave behind a big pension at the end of my career..a lifelong pension. Yes, teacher's also get summers off. BIG plus...though a needed one in my field.
So, what do you think? I love macs and want to be involved with them. But how?

I'm looking to move to PA (I think I told you that before) and I've been looking at the IT market. It seems ok, but most of the jobs I see want 5+ years of experience which luckily I have.
But then again thats programming and actually has nothing to do with Macs.
I bet you'd have a good shot as a "Mac Tech Support Specialist" of some sort for area Colleges. Try <a href="http://www.academic360.com"; target="_blank">http://www.academic360.com</a>;
You might find some Mac related jobs in Colleges. I used to work for a college and having a teaching background is always a huge plus. It will also be an easy transition into the IT world.
Plus most schools offer free tuition to employees. Work during the day and get your masters at night for free. Can't beat it.
