Download 'blacked out'
While attempting to download software from web sites, the moment I hit the 'download' button, the page turns black, and no further action is possible. The problem seems to have started with the installation of Snow Leopard.
Have tried logging in as a different user, and have deleted all the questionable after-market software I can. Nothing helps.
Am running 10.6.1 with Safari 4.0.3 on an Intel iMac.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

What web site are downloading from? Please give an example. Does it only occur from that web site or from any web site?
Does only Safari turn black? Or does the entire OS X screen? Can you force quit Safari when this happens?
