Removing a second OS

Last year my mother (who knows even less than me about macs) bought me a PowerBook G4 off ebay.\

When it arrived I discovered that the previous owner had installed a second, newer OS, but had neglected to remove the old one or even delete all their old files from the other desktop!

There is A LOT wrong with this laptop, but right now I just want to know how to delete the other OS. Help?

P.S. It shows up on finder as "Desktop (Mac OS 9)" though I know I'm running 10.4

I'm assuming you DON'T have an OSX install disc... or my suggestion would be different.

Drag the OS9 System folder to the trash.

Drag the Desktop OS9 folder to the trash.

    Empty the Trash.

    Breath in.

    Breath out.

    Move on.
