my G5 can't find files on my old G4 HD

I recently got a G5 to replace my G4 that finally died, the problem is I need the files in the two drives that were in the G4.

I removed them and hooked them up one at a time trough a universal HD adapter USB Type

but the drives are not readable by the new operating system OS 10.5, the G4 had 10.3 installed.



any one know how I can get theses to show up on my G5 so I can copy my files?



All get is window that says; a drive has been inserted that is not recognized do you wan't to reformat your drive.
